Charlie Sheen will make a a revealing personal announcement Tuesday on TODAY, and an inside source says the troubled actor will admit he is HIV positive.

Regardless, I don't particularly care if a celebrity has HIV. What I do find shocking is that apparently he has used illegal drugs, which is something you never hear celebrities doing. This will rock at the very foundation of Hollywood.

Hopefully, this will result in some good PSAs and renewed interest in prevention, treatment, etc. Maybe some celebrity weight will be thrown at lowering the prices of anti-retrovirals, and screenings, etc. As well as a great improvement on what the screens do and do not tell you.

I will confess that I am just a little surprised. I figured that a good portion of what is out in the press is hyperbole and that Sheen had some common sense about being safe, etc. OTOH, safe sex is really just safer than not using any precautions sex.

Won't be too funny for him, if he is charged with criminal assault for knowingly having sex while HIV positive and not informing his partners, prostitute or otherwise.

Didn't he have some live-in hookers or something like that? I wonder if they knew. If he knew and kept having sex with people (some stories I've read say he's paid millions to keep it quiet, not sure if that's true) then he's more despicable than his on screen characters and acting skills, and that isn't easy.

Wait a minute. How do you know that Sheen gave anybody an STI, or did so knowingly? Do you imagine that the HIV virus spontaneously arose in his body?


I think most of his purported behavior is despicable. But most of it I attribute to serious mental illness which was/is clearly not being treated, unless you count the self medication with drugs and/or hookers to be 'treatment.' Frankly, a great many people with serious mental illnesses self medicate with illegal substances.
