Nuclear war between Russia and America within one year?

Repeating does make you any less wrong.

Why are Russians so personally offended that eastern Europeans are following their own interests?
Because they are not following their own interests.

No. They are following their interests. They aren't following Moscow's interests.
Then crimeans are following their interest too.

It's not the Crimeans doing it!
Crimeans disagree with you.

Saying it's the Crimeans doesn't mean it isn't Russians pretending to be Crimean.
Of course they are russians, Crimea has been occupied by russians for the last 250 years, as long if not longer than independent US. And they call themselves crimeans.

Wiki says in 2001 Ukrainian census:

According to the (2001 census), the ethnic makeup of Crimea's population consists of the following self-reported groups: Russians:1.18 million (58.3%), Ukrainians: 492,200 (24.3%), Crimean Tatars: 243,400 (12.0%), Belarusians: 29,200 (1.4%), other Tatars: 11,000 (0.5%), Armenians: 8,700 (0.4%).

and in 2014 Russian census:

According to the 2014 Russian census, 84% of Crimean inhabitants named Russian as their native language; 7.9% – Crimean Tatar; 3.7% – Tatar; and 3.3% – Ukrainian. It was the first official Russian census in Crimea since Ukrainian that held in 2001.

Some figures were no doubt "managed" by "political correctness" at each census, and some reflect genuine change after Russian take-over.

A lot of ukrainians have russian as native language, for example, Yanukovich is ethnic ukrainian but his native language is russian.
