NY Gov Andrew Cuomo scandals

I really haven't been following this that closely but I find it strange that when talk begins of Cuomo being the next bright star for the presidency the dirt starts coming out.

If the dirt is true then he is not qualified.

It may be just coming out nationally either because of his Pandemic fame and subsequent attention or because of his plans for more. But really that “new” news is only national. New Yorkers have had a pretty frank view of him for a while and the state legislatures are not sycophants.

All women's accounts of victimhood should be listened to.. but not automatically believed, of course. Like everything else.
I heard one accuser on a CNN interview where she was given all the opportunity in the world to express her feelings about a specific incident that she is calling harassment.
Both my wife and I listened, considered, and then both responded, "so the fuck what???". He asked her if she know someone that might want to go out with him. She said no. He said ok.

Yeah. The meaning of "sexual harassment" has been stretched to absolute meaningless in these post-#MeToo days.

So the #MeToo movement affected you in a way that made sexual harassment meaningless to you? It hasn't done that to me.

Is it really so controversial to have the opinion Cuomo doesn't deserve to be Governor and Trump is a vile cunt who shouldn't be responsible for anything? Cuomo's reputation for being an obstinate prick was established well before Covid, and I suspect was an open secret even before Trump ran for President in 2015. One has fuck all to do with the other.

Right here:

Those aren't facts, that is someone rationalizing their decision not to hold a governor accountable for lying, corruption, and incompetence.

Nonsense. Governors have a lot of responsibilities and powers on their own, and in cases like New York with Cuomo, where his actions -- not Trumps -- resulted in bad outcomes, then it is only good and proper that he be held accountable. That Trump was an incompetent moron does nothing to excuse Cuomo.

Then call for holding Trump accountable for doing this thing. Demand a third impeachment. Demand hearings.

Demand that the bad outcomes, all half a million of them, be laid at Trump's feet.

Sauce. For. The. Goose. I'll wait right here on asking to pillory Cuomo while you get right on that.

If you can't be arsed to bust out the pitchforks for Trump on the altar of lying about COVID, I think it's entirely valid to ignore you calling for pitchforks for anyone.

All you have to do for it is say the words.

No, it isn't fucking valid, despite the fact that I've been calling out Trump's mendacity since he originally pushed the Obama birther conspiracy, and I've definitely criticized Trump's handling of the crisis. None of that has any bearing on Cuomo. All I have to say for you is stop acting like a psychopath. But I know you can't.

I'm not talking about Cuomo. I'm talking about you and every other MAGA apologist out there, and every other person who seems to only have a problem with democrats specifically.

Now apply your principles evenly or don't apply them because if you can't apply them evenly, they are hypocrisies, not principles.

No one said that. What I said is that the president has been set that a government official cannot be held accountable for their sexual behavior. So it is not meaningless to me, it is just unenforceable, and therefore a moot discussion.
What Derec seems to be saying is that when women ARE TAKEN SERIOUSY who say that being looked at by an unattractive stranger is a form of sexual harassment, or an unwanted question is a form of rape, or any of the other (easy to find on youtube) proclamations from "neo-hyper-feminists" stretch these words beyond meaning.
When every trivial thing you don't like is "rape", then the penalty for "rape" should be just as trivial.

I cracked my wife up the other day when someone mentioned "Micro Aggression"... and I said that I was "Micro Concerned" about it.

Of course. If you're a Democrat and they think you're even reaching for your hat they're going to start demonizing you.

I note that because they make a big issue out of that.

MI Gov Gretchen Whitmer
“We just had a president who lasted all four years with numerous allegations against him, some so far as rape and no one on his side of the aisle was making observations about whether or not he should stay in office,” Whitmer said.

“And so, is there a different standard? One could conclude that, but weighing in on that, I don’t know gets either one of us very far,” she said.

I agree. Look at what happened to Al Franken and Katie Hill.

The calls for his resignation are coming mostly from NY dems.

I generally don't much care about sleazy politicians. I kinda expect it, given American culture. My question remains, "Are they competent at their job?" as a general rule.

But I have to ask. Why is it that Democrats holding public officials to such standards is news, but you don't hear much about Republicans holding their leaders to such standards?

Well, let’s not ignore the forcing nursing homes to take Covid positive patients. But if you’ve got a bit a cynicism, you’d guess this is an effort to oust him so some other dem can take the governorship. NY does not have term limits.

Because that would require actual principles rather than rhetorical ones.

It is funny that the dem calls for his resignation are loudest for the sex allegations and muted for killing grandma.

Too bad republicans are muted for Trump killing grandma.

When did he order nursing homes to take Covid patients?

That isn't what Ziprhead said, now is it?
Trump killed a lot of grandmas with his "Covid19 is no big deal. Masks are for sissies. It's all a Democratic hoax. I'll have the country back open by Easter!".

Remember when he sent the navy ship to NY for help and the gov didn’t use it. Or when the media criticized him for saying there’d be a vaccine before the end if 2020? And was Operation Warp Speed a success or not?
