The Nominations are in...

Black Panther received a nomination for Best Picture and a scattering of nice sound or song nominations. Infinity War got a nomination for best Visual Effects and is robbed of a Best Adapted Screenplay nomination. Would it have killed them to give it a nomination for that?!

Probably they thought it would be anti-black if they did that. And can you imagine if Infinity War won over Black Panther? My crazy 8 ball says, "outcome not good".

Black Panther praise still seems weird, but the numbers are in and people do seem to like it.

I just really wanted more explosions from it to be honest.

Black Panther was a big 'meh' for me so I imagine all the other movies I haven't seen that are nominated for Best Picture are likely 'meh' as well. The fact that Aquaman isn't up for special effects is a travesty.

Actually, I think easy arguments can be made about why something else won Best Picture. Action films almost never win the award for Best Picture, what was the last one Transformers 2?

Black Panther won best picture at the SAG Awards. Some people aren't pleased... and they seem to think that anything involving minorities, other than sports, that wins something is affirmative action.

Well, it wasn't really a very good movie so I'm not surprised people are thinking that. It wasn't terrible or anything, but I just can't see someone honestly considering it to be the best film to come out in the last year. It's not even the best superhero film of the last year.

Of course, I'm sure there's also people butthurt about it winning something simply because it was primarily afro-centric. But F those people.
