Pat Robertson: Dead Journalist Not Worth Risking “$100B Worth of Arms Sales”

Christian evangelist Pat Robertson thinks the apparent assassination of an American journalist by Saudi Arabia isn’t worth jeopardizing “$100 billion worth of arms sales” with the terrorist-friendly nation.


On The 700 Club this week, Robertson called attention to the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in a Saudi consulate in Turkey. Khashoggi was reportedly killed, beheaded, and dismembered by Saudi agents, but Robertson is worried about the possibility of a deteriorating relationship with Saudi Arabia… because gun deals.

He does kind of a point. There's not a difference between the actions and attitudes of Saudi Arabia now and the actions and attitudes of Saudi Arabia two weeks ago. Everyone was happy selling all these weapons to them while knowing exactly who they are and what they do, but now that people are talking about who they are and what they do, all of a sudden everyone is supposed to be surprised and shocked and forced to re-evaluate the relationship?

I think there are key differences.....

1. We now know about their actions, and should act upon that knowledge.
2. A so-called Xtian saying that it's still OK, even now he knows there was murder, because money is pretty revolting...if typically xtian hypocrisy.

True. The Saudi government has been authoritarian and violent since they became Saudis. People in every other country have always known that they kill their political opposition. The only difference this time is that the Saudi that they killed, Khashoggi, was a journalist and so American journalists suddenly pretend to care.

A woman was raped and murdered by a group of men in the tribe of Benjamin and when Benjamin refused to punish the evil men instead of God saying "Oh, don't risk losing money and trade doing anything about it" he told the rest of the Israelites to go wipe Benjamin out and they just about did. If Pat Robertson wasn't the false teacher he is he would have the same attitude about the Saudis.

I value the Holy Mosque as a place of pilgrimidge and the Holy Prophet lived most of his life in that area of the world. However, if the Saudi people living now are made aware their king committed murder and do not remove him I have no problem letting loose some major ordinance on his palace and taking that oil from him and making it ours. The people are evil and wicked not standing up to him and deserve punishment with him.
