Police union asks deputies to not escort Dolphins until players stand for anthem

Is this voluntary overtime duty for the officers assigned to this detail? If so, they're within their rights to decline the overtime. If it's not voluntary overtime, they need to follow orders and do the job, or turn in their badges.

The union president must not be aware that NFL players are not public servants.

So police want to use their freedom to protest like SJWs...and that's fine but they shouldn't get paid or be allowed to watch the game for free.

This.

You sound like a fascist who wants to silence these people.

By saying they can protest all they want?

Let them all protest.

I won't cry.

But if they protest while on duty they are not doing their job.

It would be as if Kapernick refused to play.

Not as if he didn't show enough respect to a stupid song.

Colin's job isn't relegated to only playing. His job is to be the leader of his football team in all aspects.

So, now, what's the actual problem here? The police see these athletes protesting for justice and the police want to make it clear they don't support justice? Is that the issue?

You mean aspects like working for social justice?

Or is the team against that?

To me he is giving the team good publicity, showing it cares enough about these issues to let a player do something that is not disrespectful or disruptive, merely as symbolic as a flag or song.

Colin is one of the most talented QBs in the country. He's 6'5", has a cannon for an arm, very accurate, runs like a deer, is elusive, has been extremely well coached, and has well above average IQ. And yet, he sucks. Why? I think it's because he's not a leader. He has a bad work ethic. And he doesn't lead. It's more important for him to make political statements than practice.

This is a turn to left field that I have no interest in pursuing.

It is a respectful yet symbolic act of protest.

How people react to it IMO is related to how they feel about the specific issue being brought up.

Some don't care that much when an unarmed person is shot.
