Pope Francis Says Atheists Who Do Good Are Redeemed, Not Just Catholics

I get that you're trying to be the good Pope and all, but at least tell the truth about what your religion says. I mean, you're the Pope, you're supposed to know your shit.

Every now and then I get the feeling that this pope might be secretly planning on bringing the whole institution down. Like maybe he became disillusioned a long time ago and realized that it's all just depraved shit, but rather than quit and speak out, decided, "hey, it's possible I could move way up in this organization one day, high enough to take it out big time. Maybe I'll just keep feeding the poor and playing along with the religious bullshit until I get my chance."
Actually if you read the catechism of his church he isn't saying anything that isn't in there. Catholic teaching has this thing called invincible ignorance.

What I like about the guy is that he is so different from all his predecessors. I honestly think he hates all the pomp and regalia and having to be treated like royalty. Like I said in another thread he calls muslims brothers, he has atheist friends, gay friends. The guy is different from the cut. He seems to be a product of the times, not so inbred. The right wingers in his club must hate the guy.

For the record, I thought of this before this last thing about atheists and heaven. As for the rest, I don't disagree, but there are literally millions of people who call Muslims brothers, and atheists, and gays, and who genuinely want to help the poor and suffering as best they can. They're just not also leading a religious scam of centuries or influencing the decisions of billions of people - from voting to using condoms - or wearing diamond-studded slippers while doing so.

Can't argue with you there. I hope he goes a lot further than he has. I'd like him to get to saying that religion has a purpose and it isn't to have more religion.
