It is always sad to see people die, but at least a little better when they've lived to 76. Ray Thomas was an important member of the band for a couple of decades, but illness and issues led to him uncoupling from the band in 80s. His impact is something as flutes don't usually appear too often in rock music, but Legend of the Mind, especially the live performance at Red Rocks is tremendous. I saw a tribute band play and noticed a lot more flute in songs than I had noticed previously.

And of course, there is the whole Nights in White Satin thing, which is etched in stone as a landmark in rock history.

I was sad to hear this this morning. We lost an astronaut, John Young today as well. And my daughter's latin teacher died today too. And David Bowie would have been 71 today. :(

However, Stephen Hawking is 76 today and is alive.

And yet Keith Richards is still alive confounding everyone, Keith included.

Never heard of him.

Flute player for the Moody Blues.
