Sanders vs Trump on primetime?

Apparently, the Trump people are treating it as a joke.

Well, of course they're treating it as a joke. It is a joke. It's being done as a way to undercut Clinton and laugh at her. Trump doesn't have two reasons for this.

Sanders, on the other hand, can use as a way to undercut Clinton and help elect Trump or as a way to distance himself from Trump in a very public way for his supporters.

How is Bernies debate challenge distancing him from Trump? I think it's the opposite: Bernie and Trump teaming up against HRC.

It's not? It's acceptable to use the other party as an ally in a primary? Vote for me, the Repugs want you to?

Maybe each side should just have the opposition select the candidate.

Sounds like you're reading too much into it.

Maybe. But it's a fundamental election strategy to try and choose your opponent, one the GOP, to its credit, has done well with in the past.

If you can get to that, I would think its an obvious corollary that intra party issues should be handled internally.

I'm saying that Sanders could make it that way and spend the debate doing nothing but attacking and belittling Trump. He probably won't, but he could.

How did Hillary renege?

Hillary campaign agreed to X debates and they are at x-1 and they are now saying no more debates.

They agreed to 6 debates, which was later expanded to 10. They've had nine. Who is saying "no more debates"?

Clinton has largely tried to avoid talking about the potential California debate. When she was asked about it on Sunday, she told NBC that she had not thought about it.

"We'll consider it," Clinton said. "But I think what's important is we're not going to let, at least my campaign, is not going to let Donald Trump try to normalize himself" when he doesn't have an opponent.

She said "no" to Faux News, and I don't blame her.

I also don't see that there is really any upside to her having another debate with Bernie at this point, but according to the above article, she hasn't said "no" to another debate, only "no" to Faux News.

While Bernie has been a little too sour grapes these past few weeks, it seems difficult to see him holding hands with Donald Trump. If anything, this could bode well for Hillary if Bernie goes up there and throws his support behind her, and in the process make Trump look like the goddamn fool he is. If Bernie wants to do something positive at this point, he could take on this debate and ensure a Trump loss.

I thought I was the one who was overthinking...

That sounds like the feel good movie ending.
