Secret Service depletes funds to pay agents because of Trump's frequent travel, large family

If there is no money to fund the protection, then there should be no protection.
 
Well, Trump is a guy who believes he is entitled to a whole lot of stuff without paying for it. He likely won't understand that this is actually a real problem.

He DID mention, during the campaign, removing the guns from Hillary's detail, to make a point. The point was a lie, about Hillary being out to take their guns, but he still said it's okay to decrease protection to make a point.

If the cost of his trips to Mar-A-Lago is three, eight, twelve million dollars, whatever, then he pays for them or he goes without a detail. To make a point.

Maybe Trump can just warn people that want to harm him or his family about "Fire and fury" and they'll back off.

Would anyone really give a damn about this were it not for conservatives having a shit-fit over expenses every time the secret service had to put gas in the Presidential Limo so that Obama could get from point A to point B?

It's easy to play small ball with this stuff, so why should Trump deserve anything less than complete and overreactive scrutiny for everything he says and does? It's the way things are now.

Yes. Part of his campaign was that he wasn't going to accept the salary of his position, to save the nation money.
His presidential salary would not cover the expenses incurred by his vacations.
The vacations he wasn't going to take because he'd be working too hard...

Congress might be able to do that with 2/3 (veto-proof) majorities in both Houses. I'm not absolutely certain on they can, but the Constitution (Article 1, Section 8) does give all the fiduciary powers of the U.S. government to Congress.
