Shelby Shoup, a Gillum intern, arrested for assaulting FSU College Republicans

So first the right-wingers claim chocolate milk is mass murder and now they're claiming it's just assault. While that's an improvement, I guess, does anyone else remember when food fights used to be a thing that people didn't call the cops over? You know, when conservatives didn't need safe spaces or get triggered...

Really? Arresting someone for battery for throwing chocolate milk at somebody?

Throwing chocolate milk at someone is much worse than driving a car into a crowd full of people because conservatives are all special delicate princess snowflakes, and simply criticizing them causes them massive, crippling anguish for weeks. Remember how they reacted when Hillary merely pointed out that they are deplorable? They were so traumatized that some of them are still crying about it.

I heard that there was chocolate milk on the planes that the terrorists crashed into the World Trade Centre on 9/11.

Obviously the LWers have been as triggered over this incident as the RWers.

...and the Nazis are well known to be milk drinkers.

I remember a time when conservative males would sexually harass a women, get a drink thrown in their face, and then just laugh it off. What ever happened to these tough skinned guys? Now they just skip food fight and go right to calling police and crying.

1) Nitpick: Assault is the attempt to hit someone. It does not need to succeed. I've seen someone arrested for spitting at someone and missing.

2) A mutual food fight is not a crime. It's when you do it to a non-consenting person that it becomes a crime. Same with hitting someone--step into the boxing ring and it's not a crime if you get punched.

What's so strange about arresting someone for a crime they clearly committed?

It’s because the triviality of the crime causes it to be really funny when someone says we need to take it seriously. Especially in relation to the serious crimes of politically motivated assaults happening in context of the discussion about it.

Someone had a glass of milk thrown at them. It’s like in the context of a lot of discussion about dumping toxic material, someone starts a thread about a dude who spit his gum in the street. It would be funny that the comparison between the two is being made.

Was there a divisive sign that she was talking about?

The video is cut up, so maybe she mentioned it...

At any rate, I am glad she is looking out for her people. Everyone should.

What's with the ominous music in the video? That was weird.

I suppose this girl is going to become the right's next frightening example of left wing terrorism.

And who's the pussy that called the cops? Jesus.

There's always terrifying music when Freddy Krueger or Jason is about to attack.

The trivality of the incident. We usually do not see people arrested for jaywalking or speeding or spitting on the sidewalk either.

Of course, all of this begs the question of whether throwing milk on someone ought to be a crime in the first place.

Chocolate milk throwing does seem a bit trite, IMHO. On the other hand, would you want to be one to make a list of the acceptable items that can be thrown and not thrown? How about a glass full of water thrown by an annoyed woman in a man's face in a bar? Eh, no big deal. How about a 5 gallon bucket of water dumped on an elderly lady who told some kids to get off her lawn? Where's the line with regard to quantity and "grossness" of the stuff thrown? Does the age, race and gender of the victim count?

Also, the victim was a conservative and the milk wasn't white.

If I'm not mistaken, she threw a chocolate milk at a black guy. Could that be construced as racist? Maybe she should be charged with a hate crime?
