Look, obscure Christian leaders call fatwas on gay people all the time. We're used to it. The thing is, we are now in an environment in which bigots feel emboldened to commit acts of hate and violence, and there's a very real chance they won't be punished for it.

That makes this fatwa very different from all the previous fatwas.

The chances of some crazy person acting on a statement of hate like this one is much greater than it used to be, and that frightens me.

This nation is becoming more and more Christian all the time in recent days, and I'm sure it will get worse before it gets better. The only question is how far into the abyss will Cheeto Jesus drag this nation? Will he go full fascist? Time will tell. Goodness knows Republican voters will not act as a brake on his behavior.

FIFY...FWIW this guy may have a modest Facebook or Youtube following, but he is hardly a leader of anything. He has no church, nor radio program, or whatnot. He seems to be not much more than a lone blowhard. But yes, such dolts fan the flames of hate. Hopefully, FFvC keeps his rhetoric calmed down, as he will have more impact than others...
