Should white local people be encouraged to work as domestic servants in order to curb immigration?

This is one of the main causes of mass immigration - ie: local whites would prefer not to work as domestic servants, cleaners, nannies etc..so we just get in immigrants instead. This problem is further exacerbated by the availability of welfare which, in UK at least, pays the same as min wage

In the USA farm labor has been a paradox.No one here would consider picking crops.But,when I was young crops were pick by kids in the summer.There were migrant workers too,Mexican and poor whites.If you want cheap produce and your pool cleaned,than you must have a work visa system.

Hong Kong imports several domestic workers on contract without a right of citizenship afterwards. The minimum they are paid is stipulated in law. Other workers who come to Hong Kong are paid a minimum wage so as not to undercut local workers. It works. Indian labourers on the HK Airport project earned five years money in six months. Hong Kong benefitted so did the workers.

Before immigration the UK had a lot of domestic servants, cooks and nannies. If we had no imported labour then some jobs of course would be paid to local people at a reasonable wage. Of course there would be less, but there would be people on hire. The money they earned would be spent in the economy and not for foreign housing projects abroad, thus robbing us of more jobs. We do need immigrant labour in moderation, but I believe they should be paid as much as a local person so as not to undercut our own workforce.

No. Families of immigrants back home receive money from those family members working abroad. These family members back home are living in poverty, real poverty. Not some western idea of poverty that forces one to eat mostly junk food, but real poverty. Poverty where the difference between eating or starving is largely dependent upon whether or not your crops survive. Having a family member working overseas fills the gap for when there is no food. It keeps people alive and helps decrease the need for humanitarian aid. And that's one less thing for greedy, money-centered people to complain about.

Ok, but surely we can get unemployment down to virtually zero if we encourage locals to do the work? That must be the way forward - and how about in US where welfare is not so easy to get (as in EU) , will the unemployed do this work?

What you appear to be missing is that the white people don't WANT to work those jobs. I've volunteered picking crops and actually hope to some day be able to quit my well-paying desk job to farm full time. It is hard, back-breaking work for little money. You are out in the elements for 16 hour+ days, 7 days a week. Sounds like a dream to me, but most people don't like to work hard in harsh environments. I married an Italian women though, so I'm used to such a lifestyle. Okay, that last part was a joke, but seriously...most people don't want to work that hard because they feel they are entitled to something better/easier. It is the people that come from lifestyles of do or die that understand that a hard job is something to be thankful for, not avoided. Unfortunately, the immigrants are far more likely to have that attitude than us white folk. I was educated by travel thanks to my parents luckily, so I think that is where I get it from.

immigration will always be a problem as long as living THERE is not as attractive as cleaning toilets HERE.

Putting locals to work won't make HERE any less attractive to someone who can't get food or clean water or a vote THERE.

That may be true, but no one really 'wants' these jobs. But surely better to push our own people into this kind of work than have them sit on benefits whilst the immigrants do it - I mean long term this must be better for the economy, surely? And they don't need to be 16hrs a day, can be a normal length shift.

They are not always wogs though, in fact many immigrants are white, esp in Europe
