I've heard many an atheist say the exact same thing about atheism in nearly those same terms, that Scriptural study leads to it inevitably. I do not agree, yet I have never called nor even considered anyone brain damaged trash for daring to think this. There is such a thing as basic civility, and tolerance of the views of others.
Scriptural study is a waste of time; It leads wherever the student wants to go - or wherever his teachers want to lead him.
Study of
reality leads inevitably to atheism. But most seem disinclined to study reality sufficiently closely to grasp this, instead preferring to waste time on woo. Which is a shame.
People are actually prepared to say, with a straight face, that they find physics boring, and that if only you would read <scripture>, you could find 'meaning' in the world. Yet another way in which religion gets things completely backwards.
