Recently, a social worker who has both a 'professional' Twitter account and a private/personal Twitter account, tweeted this in January on his personal twitter:

“Hating women isn’t a meme for me. It’s not an online persona. It’s a commitment. It’s a way of life.”

The tweet received 90,000 likes and 40,000 retweets before it was taken down. This is a sign of serious popular acceptance of misogyny in America.

Of course, that's not how it happened. A female social worker tweeted: “Hating men isn’t a meme for me. It’s not an online persona. It’s a commitment. It’s a way of life.”

https://regardingmen.com/social-worker-tweets-her-hatred-of-men/

Selected passages from above:

Sheabutter describes herself in her Twitter profile as an “Abolitionist MSW + organizer” as well as, somewhat incongruously, a “Total Sweetie.” I’ve heard that Hitler was kind to dogs.

MSW? It stands for Master of Social Work. Disturbingly, this is someone claiming to hold an advanced degree in social work, which Wikipedia tells us is “a profession concerned with helping individuals, families, groups and communities to enhance their individual and collective well-being.”

Elsewhere on her Twitter page, the “Total Sweetie” talks about her pride in being an activist for social justice, emphasizing her dedication to “equity” for disempowered people and communities.

Imagine a man having to interact with this woman for any institutional reason at all. Social workers are supposed to help people with problems that include poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addiction, and family violence. The people who come into contact with social workers are society’s most vulnerable and powerless.

Social workers are supposed to connect hurting people with the services they need. They are expected to demonstrate respect and compassion for all those they encounter.
We already know that the field of social work is heavily skewed by feminist bias to regard men overwhelmingly as perpetrators of violence, and to see women overwhelmingly as innocent victims. We know that most social workers regard men not as human beings with problems, but as problems in themselves.

Despite that dismal reality, it is still horrifying to think of this woman who proudly declares her total commitment to hating men. How could she possibly work for any form of justice at the same time as she promotes hatred as a “way of life”? Could she ever be trusted to interact with men, advocate for men, address men’s issues, or contribute to public discussions involving men free from her hatred? It seems highly unlikely, if not objectively impossible.

Oh my god. At first I was, all, like, having one reaction because HOW DARE THAT MANS!!!!!!!!!!!111111111111, but then I saw it was a woman who said it about a men and I was all like, 'well that's cool then.' But then I sat and thought about it for a bit, and I like, totally died of hypocrisy. I'm, like, literally dead right now.

Good one, bruh.

What a rollercoaster of emotions for you. I hope you're okay.

Wow, that is awful. She should not be allowed to stay in social work. One does indeed wonder how she can possible dispense assistance that is not toxic and a damage to the intent of social work.

If that was not venting, social work is not the venue for that person and she needs help. If it was venting, she needs some help.

Does it surprise me that such an attitude got 90,000 likes or whatever? No.

The twitter account is set as private so it's not possible to verify the article/premise linked or whether the offensive tweet was the provocative start to a statement that is later refuted in the thread, or whether the tweet was faked, as I've seen other tweets obviously faked, usually for lol. In the absence of verification, or the possibility of verification of this so called author's premise/story: I call bullshit.

I think the account was set to private in light of her sexist, misandrist tweet getting some unwanted attention. It's all fun and games when your sycophants give you likes and retweets, but quite different when people call you on your sexism outside the walled garden of Twittersphere.

How unusual of you to give benefit of doubt to a misandrist ...
Reminds me of that racist NY Times writer whose anti-white tweets were defended by many "woke" people on here. :banghead:

I'm so glad I left the rage-fest that is Twitter a few months ago - toxic to the bone.

Person who believes in [thing] or identifies with [ideology/group] posts passive aggressive post to dunk on people who don't believe in [thing] and who don't share identification with [ideology/group]. Twenty-thousand people who also identify with [ideology/group] re-tweet post to destroy people who don't believe in [ideology/group], then go to Facebook and change their cover photo to a picture of John Lennon that says 'give peace a chance'.

Please notice I'm not 'defending' anyone. I'm suggesting that this is fake news and that the tweet may not have existed or may not have existed in the form that is presented in the article linked in the OP.

Or maybe it did. We don't know. I doubt that the tweet, if it ever existed as presented, is the whole story rather than something lifted out of context and used to attack women.

Regardless of whether the supposed tweet was actually authored by the person it's attributed to and whether it is represented in that article honestly or not, it is easy to see why anyone would set their twitter to private.

Women are not even allowed to write about gaming on the internet without getting rape threats and death threats.

As for that zombie thread you resurrected? Not sure your point. If you're directed it at me, I don't think I posted in that threat at all.

So, we have some random woman expressing misandry and got 90k twitter "likes".

We also have a man who has repeatedly expressed misogynistic attitudes, such as disregard for female consent and "pussy grabbing", and got 63 million votes to be President and gets approval from the majority of white males in the US and the vast majority of Republicans.

Then we have Metaphor who predictably spends his time being outraged by the former. Or maybe I am wrong and you can show us the many posts you've made condemning Trump's misogyny.

She isn't a 'random', or at least, she is a social worker, and I think a social worker who hates half of her vulnerable clients is a problem.

I don't make posts about Trump because there are plenty enough people who do. I'm not required to make posts that satisfy somebody else's preferences.

Hmmm. A misandrist. She needs to lose her job. It's now been said. Do you also believe the mysogynist should lose their job?

True, what you complain about reflects your preferences and values, and your consistently selective posts complaining only about misandry and not the objectively far more pervasive and damaging misogyny from people with far more power speaks volumes about what and who you care about. In fact you don't simply ignore misogyny, you generally defend it and attack those you point it out.

Actually, whether she should lose her job depends on how much her attitude may interfere with her day to day job.

If she's a front lines or a policy setting social worker, it seems to me her hatred would indeed be incompatible. If she's an academic, no. Other feminist academics say far worse all the time.

If you mean President Trump, no. He was elected fair and square.

What is your basis to suggest it is "fake news"?

and that the tweet may not have existed or may not have existed in the form that is presented in the article linked in the OP.
I think it is real. She made her Twitter feed private in order to avoid scrutiny. If there was nothing to it, there'd be no reason to hide her tweets.

Or maybe it did. We don't know. I doubt that the tweet, if it ever existed as presented, is the whole story rather than something lifted out of context and used to attack women.
See. Even when a misandrist woman writes incredibly sexist things against men, you always think it's somehow about "attacking women" ...

Regardless of whether the supposed tweet was actually authored by the person it's attributed to and whether it is represented in that article honestly or not, it is easy to see why anyone would set their twitter to private.
It's not.

Women are not even allowed to write about gaming on the internet without getting rape threats and death threats.
Are you talking about the Sarkeesian chick? She was not attacked on the Internet for "writing about gaming" but because she wrote that games that do not pass her feminist muster (such as Super Mario Brothers) are "against women" and should not exist.
And what does she have to do with the woman from OP who got tons of adulation for saying she hates men?

As for that zombie thread you resurrected? Not sure your point. If you're directed it at me, I don't think I posted in that threat at all.
I resurrected nothing. I merely linked to it as an example of faux-progressives supporting racism and sexism from their side.

What is your basis to suggest it is "fake news"?

The source of this 'news' and the inability to confirm or deny it anywhere else.

Also, I've seen numerous tweets altered to make it appear the supposed author said many things they did not, often for lol.

I think it is real. She made her Twitter feed private in order to avoid scrutiny. If there was nothing to it, there'd be no reason to hide her tweets.

I think that if it's been attributed to her, she's probably well inundated with hate tweets and has no choice but to make her twitter feed private. This is true whether she is the author or not.

Or maybe it did. We don't know. I doubt that the tweet, if it ever existed as presented, is the whole story rather than something lifted out of context and used to attack women.

Except that's not what wrote. I said that I doubt that tweet is genuine because it isn't available ANYWHERE and usually, if there is a genuine story behind something, more than some obscure 'news site' has picked it up. Also, Metaphor has a history of using unreliable 'sources.'

OTOH, you use genuine legitimate sources. So, if you can find some reference on a site that you personally trust, and not just the 'site' that Metaphor linked, then I will agree that there may be a point.

Regardless of whether the supposed tweet was actually authored by the person it's attributed to and whether it is represented in that article honestly or not, it is easy to see why anyone would set their twitter to private.
It's not.

I have my twitter feed set to private. And not because I've had thousands of people attacking me. I just keep things private. We know that women are attacked and threatened with murder and rape for .....posting about an online game.

Women are not even allowed to write about gaming on the internet without getting rape threats and death threats.

She's hardly the only woman who has been attacked and what on earth do you think justified death threats and rape threats? Because she doesn't like something? FFS, Derek. Please find and link something that actually supports Metaphor's 'source.' Then we will have something to discuss. For now, I think this is just Metaphor getting off on attacking non-whites and women using dubious information.

As for that zombie thread you resurrected? Not sure your point. If you're directed it at me, I don't think I posted in that threat at all.
I resurrected nothing. I merely linked to it as an example of faux-progressives supporting racism and sexism from their side.

Well, you brought out a thread long dormant for whatever reasons. Nothing appeared relevant to me.

For now, I think this is just Metaphor getting off on attacking non-whites and women using dubious information.

You would think that I just want to attack 'non-whites' (way to other people and make whites the default, bigot) and 'women' even if I'd posted 'verifiable' sources, so what's the point of saying it?

The original tweet is all over twitter if you want to see it. People have retweeted it and screenshotted it even after the original was deleted.

But it doesn't surprise me that you refuse to engage with the material, because it's hard for you to defend the material. So instead you maintain fantasies that none of it ever happened.
