This was to be the next movie in Star Trek's Kelvin timeline.

Why Star Trek 4 Has Been Canceled | ScreenRant
  1. Star Trek: Beyond underperformed
  2. Star Trek 4's director moved on
  3. Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth dropped out
  4. Paramount's Leadership and other Star Trek movies
But this movie may get revived some time in the future.

Unlikely. The deal between Paramount and CBS requires a Star Trek film to be in the making or the franchise goes back to CBS. Kinda like the arrangement Sony had with Marvel over Spiderman. So for all intents and purposes the Kelvin timeline is, mercifully, dead and buried.

Pop Star Trek - Wonderfully casted, poorly written, made a good deal of money, but not an improved amount relative to the cost of production.

So we are going back to the Celsius timeline? Or would that be Rankine? :)

I kinda liked the Kelvin timeline idea. It allows the franchise not to be bound by cannon.
However, I was underwhelmed by Beyond.

There is not much ground for new plots. All five TV series were variations on the same kinds of stories.

There is a cable channel here that plays all ST TV shows. 5 hours 6 days a week.
