If you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

Making a living as an actor in Florida must be hard. The state — best known for sinkholes, alligators, and idiotic criminals — is not exactly a capital of theater, film, or television. So you can’t really blame the actors who took $75 from a local Tea Party chapter and sugar conglomerate in West Palm Beach to pretend to be protesters.

The people to blame are the corporate chieftains and local conservative activists who tried to compensate for the unpopularity of their cause by astroturfing their rally.

Reminds me of the "citizen protests" at the Palm Beach Canvassing Board back in 2000 which actually was a bunch of Republican staffers.

Considering the TEAParty is an astroturfed organization pretty much from the start, looks like the minions learned well.

Many Florida Tea Partiers are unemployed Croc hunters.

Most Croc hunters in Florida are unemployed; it's all Alligators over there.

The difference between a Crocodile and an Alligator? They are easy to tell apart - one is a large aquatic reptile, and the other is an individual making an allegation in a court of law.

[Fun fact derail] Florida has both crocodiles and alligators [/derail]

Florida has more alligator attacks and fatalities than any other US state, which is strange when one considers every Gulf Coast state has a thriving population of alligators. The difference seems to be Florida has more water front residences and these residences are favored by retirees from northern non-alligator infested states.

When this is combined with the strange habit these people have of standing near the water and feeding food scraps to the alligators, it's no wonder the Tea Party has to pay people to appear in protests.
