So I guess the show is only going to go so far as Babylon's Ashes in the series.

Amazon has given the sci-fi drama series The Expanse the green light for Season 6. However, the forthcoming Season 6 will also double as the final season of The Expanse.

At least it's a clean break. Book 6 can be read as a finale; without going into spoilers it only leaves a couple of loose ends. I suspect this is going to be neater than the last season of an obscure show that The Expanse is constantly being compared to. It would have been nice to see Laconia but I guess you can't have everything.

I'm still going to be jonesing for Leviathan Falls. I reckon the book is going to be a rollercoaster.

I can definitely see Nemesis Games and Babylon Ashes being merged into a single season. Nemesis Games could work as a single season, but I don't think it'd be too difficult to combine them. The only issue there is how to finish off in a Season Six if you went that route.

It wouldn't be a bad way to kind of try and wrap things up with Babylon's Ashes...

I just found the ending anti-climatic and not the way I'd want to end the series

And if they decide to do a second show later, to pick up where Book 7 starts, then:

At least it gives the actors time to age a bit.

I'm one of those people who either reads a book series, or watches the TV adaptation, but rarely both. I will probably binge-watch the entire six seasons at some point in the future after I've read and mostly forgotten the last books.
