Amy Goodman interviewed an author about his book about Smedely Butler. There was a coup planned by bankers and rich industrialist to over throw FDR. He played them,and exposed the plot.

The 19th century was as corrupt as Trump in regards to presidential elections.

1876 was in a sense a coup. The presidency was won by backroom deals, electors did not have to vote with the state election results.. Historically Trump is not new.

Note that the founders did not want to have the president elected by popular vote. It was left up to electors largely land holders and businessmen who had a vested interest in the country.
