The Surprisingly Strong Progressive Case For Donald Trump

I would think if progressives wanted an old rich white person whose dubious achievements are mostly having the right name and connections they could just stick with Hillary.

Hillary doesn't have the humour value of Trump. The man is entertaining in the same way that a flaming clown car careening off of a bridge and crashing into a fireworks factory is. Sure, it's horrific and tragic and all that, but it's also kind of funny and the fact that you feel kind of bad about enjoying watching it doesn't make watching it less enjoyable.

That's what progressives are looking for in a President?

Humor value? That explains the Draft Biden movement. Not so much Draft Kerry.

Empirically I would have guessed they were looking for dull and unappealing rich old white people.

There is zero chance that Donald Trump will ever become President. I have more chance of becoming President than him and I'm constitutionally ineligible for the job. It's not any kind of concern.

Donald Trump campaigning for President, on the other hand, is the funniest fucking thing around right now and it doesn't look like it will be getting old anytime soon.

Wait, is this really a case FOR progressive support for the Donald?
Or is it showing that out of the GOP, Trump is the least offensive of a bad lot?
Or is it saying, don't laugh, he can still make it?

Whatever it's really saying the title isn't accurate.

I nominate Keith&Co for Truth of story!

Seconded.

It is not saying progressives should support him over any Dem candidate, only that he is no worse and no more a bigot than even the most "mainstream" and presumed likely of the Republican candidates, and actually more reasonable on at least a couple issues of importance to progressives. It is a backhanded but accurate mockery of the Republican party as a whole. OTOH, it highlights the real danger of Trump, which is that the media narrative that he is "the crazy one" plays right into republican strategy of making the equal nuts, immoral, and dangerous winner of the Republican nomination appear moderate.

Never underestimate American crazy. It'll bite you in the ass every time.

Didn't stop al-Obama.
