The war on drugs has been just another justification to set up a group with spies, guns, handcuffs and a lot of privately owned prisons for the offenders...and the shareholders. The DEA is not going to admit it is a failure and a fraud and has already cost us many lives and a lot of treasure too. This is just some more of the tax money going to pay for cops to go after people who will always be there but are not actually criminals. How much did this little operation cost? Do you think it is good to pay taxes that are spent of political propaganda to keep loser cops jobs?
Drugs and alcohol are probably the greatest destabilizers in poor neighborhoods. They are by far the greatest reason why there are so many abandoned and neglected kids. We were foster parents years ago. Druggie parents were the biggest causes for foster kids.
The problem of drugs exists in all neighborhoods. In the upscale world the problem is prescription drugs. In the poorer neighborhoods, the problem is mainly poverty and no real social organization. Civilization has been stolen from these people and it is a natural they do things like drugs. It is the old self medication story...complete with people who sell drugs. Druggie parents are troubled people. I think you did foster parent work and poor neighborhoods are always a place where you can find kids that need parents.....drugs or no. Mostly, I will admit there are a lot of drugs in these neighborhoods, but the drugs are an effect of abject poverty and hopelessness. The answer is concentrated rehabilitation of everything from the houses to the schools and medical or social intervention in drug problems...not more fucking cops with their guns and cuffs.
