When Yazmin Juárez arrived at the South Texas Family Residential Center, in Dilley, Texas, in March, her 18-month-old daughter, Mariee, was a healthy toddler with plump cheeks who liked dancing and singing with her mother, and was blissfully unaware of her confinement. Yazmin, 20, had crossed the Rio Grande with her daughter in hopes of seeking asylum to escape the violence that had engulfed her home country of Guatemala.

Yazmin and Mariee were apprehended on the U.S. side of the river by Customs and Border Protection. They were then transferred to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, which sent them to the Dilley facility, the largest of three family detention centers for undocumented migrants in the country, with a capacity of 2,400.
One week after arriving at Dilley, Mariee developed a cough, congestion, and a fever of over 104 degrees. During the next two weeks of her confinement, Yazmin felt powerless as her daughter got sicker, rebounded, and got sick again, battling a virus that started with a common cold.
Six weeks after being released from the facility, relocated to New Jersey, and shuffled between three hospitals, Mariee was finally unhooked from a ventilator and died at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. The cause of death, ultimately, was viral pneumonitis, according to hospital records.

I await the board racist to enlighten us as to why this was their own fault.

Those kids were in those concentration camps because their parents were accused of (but not convicted of) misdemeanors.

Trump was recently implicated in multiple felonies.

Therefore, as per conservative arguments, we would be justified to keep Barron Trump in those same kennel cages.

Mariee did not die in ICE confinement. One month into VICE News' investigation, false rumors about her death spread on social media, sparking outcry from immigration advocates who have long been concerned about conditions for children at Dilley. She died of a viral infection that can kill children anywhere, though doctors say that conditions at institutions like Dilley allow viruses to spread more easily and make it hard to recover.

No one knows where she got the bug. If it was contagious, other people there would have acquired it, too. No story on that. Some folks will just believe anything if it fits their narrative.

Or is that quoted text just something you made up yourself?

It was contagious as she contracted it in custody. And yeah, it'd been one heck of a story if a bunch of children died because they caught a viral infection because they were all herded together like cattle by ICE on the orders of the Trump Administration. I'm glad you brought that up... the dangers of such things.

How do you know as a toddler she didn't have less tolerance and a few others didn't have it?

I'm glad to have the odious postings of Trausti silenced by the Ignore function...as yet again he proves his ignorance. That little girl got sick after a week in that hell-hole. The incubation time of the cold virus which killed her is between 24 and 72 hours. She got it in that concentration camp, where she had been for around 168 hours.

Donal J Trump is a murderer. Those who defend him are collaborators.

His words are from the source in the OP.

LAWYERS FOR MOTHER OF CHILD WHO DIED AFTER LEAVING ICE CUSTODY READY $40 MILLION WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

I think it should be way more than $40M, just to teach a big lesson....

Lawyers for Yazmin Juárez, the mother of a toddler, Mariee, who died of pneumonia two months after contracting a virus in ICE custody earlier this year, are asking for $40 million from the city of Eloy, Arizona in a wrongful death claim.
Lawyers with Arnold & Porter, a Washington D.C.-based law firm, said Mariee received negligent medical care at the South Texas Family Residential Center in Dilley Texas that led to her death in a letter to officials of the city.

In a rare contracting deal, Immigration and Customs Enforcement pays Eloy to pay the private prison company, CoreCivic, to run the Dilley detention center, located in Texas.
“Under Eloy’s watch, families and children at Dilley have been housed in close quarters, and many suffer from untreated illnesses and other medical conditions,” the letter reads. “These conditions are inherently unsafe and endanger the health and lives of all those who are detained there, especially small children like Mariee.”
