This Virus Has Shown How Important Corporations Are To The People

And it's been pointed out that if we took the 19.2 million that the CEO of Starbucks makes and distributed it to all their 291,000 employees evenly, they would each get a whopping....get ready for it....$65.98!!!! Poverty solved, Keith???

Boy, that CEO is really screwing those workers!!
So, why are ANY CEOs foregoing their paychecks to keep their company afloat this month, if it's futile?

But the point of my post is, ONLY some are doing it.
Nothing forces Hobby Lobby, for example, to allow ANYTHING to trickle down if they can at all avoid it.
Thus the failure of thst economic model wet dream

as explained elsewhere in this thread.
SOME of the rich bastards at the top are using their personal funds to keep the company afloat.
Some are granting big severance packages.
Who owns Hobby Lobby, and wgat are they worth?
And have they EVER read anything Jesus said about how to treat the poor? we have a discrete approach to the problem, here.
I, the atheist, think the people are more important than the corporate returns to investors.
You, the alleged Xian, value wealth more than workers.
Also look at food stores. They throw out mass quantities of food at the expiration date.
you mean, they obey the law? Weird.
They lose all that profit. Millions of dollars thrown away. And you're wondering why they lay people off?
the supermarkets here are bending over backwards to keep everyone employed.
Hobby ket tgem go without two weeks notice. So, like, fuck corporate.
"Pay me with the money you don't have!
but thry DO have the money. That's the whole point.
Stay open with the money you can't afford to pay rent to stay open!" doesn't sound too smart, does it?
no, but it does sound humble, generous, empathetic...you know, what i was told Christains should be, back when i was one.

Keith,

Jesus was for charity for the poor. He was not for stealing from the rich and giving it to the poor.

That is the stuff churches and billionaires do: donate to charity for poor people. Jesus never said, "If you find a rich man, steal money from them and give it to the poor people."

The fact that they ARE sacrificing their salary shows they are not cartoon villains twirling their mustache rubbing their hands together going, "Yes! Yes!"

Even Trump isn't taking a salary for being President. But to you guys, that's not good enough. Even Obama kept his salary.

Halfie:

Profit is the amount of money remaining after revenue is collected and all bills and payroll are paid. BTW, I'm pretty sure that Hobby Lobby's CEO and Board of Directors got paid.

For Hobby Lobby to maintain a profit while firing its entire workforce tells you everything you need to know about Hobby Lobby.

But logically, the workers can not all get paid millions of dollars in salary to stock shelves and punch a cash register. Do you know what that would do to inflation? Prices would skyrocket. The company would also have no profits.

I used to joke around that if we got paid 8 million dollars an hour, a can of soda would be 1 million dollars.

This is why the assertion could be made that you don't argue in good faith and are a troll. Nobody was talking about increasing wages. All Keith pointed out was a corporation firing people whilst still making nine figure profits really doesn't give a fuck about people. Considering the stimulus package the US government is handing out, Hobby Lobby has no excuse to fire its workers, it's just a cunt move.

"We need to fire our workers because our EBIT is only half a billion dollars". That's your argument? That's pathetic.

You think half a billion dollars is a lot of money for a large company like Hoby Lobby? I just looked it up and ran the numbers

You claim 500 million in profit. They have 43,000 employees total in 900 stores. That comes to $11,627.91 per employee.

When you do the actual math, all of a sudden the numbers look like chump change, don't they? It ruins your narrative. Saying, "They have 5000 million!!!" is an emotional triggers....it's not based on facts. It's meant to get you angry and riled up.

For every CEO making multiple millions there are dozens of executives under them that are also making millions.

Plus dividends paid to shareholders.

SOME do.
Jesus never said, "If you find a rich man, steal money from them and give it to the poor people."
which would be why Robin Hood is always portrayed as the villain...

You know, when we had a drug store, with employees, we felt a certain responsibility towards our employees. Gave them time off for emergencies, loaned money at times, GAVE them money over and above wages...
You, and the hypocrites at Hobby, clearly don't feel that responsibility goes in both directions. So, of course you think that the owners giving up some of their profit during an emergency is them being ripped off.

I just called it, not being a selfish waste of sperm.

and once again, that's not what i asked, Halfie. Try again.

Really? You?

Board of Directors
CEO
COO
Vice Presidents
Division Directors

All could be millionaires

That's right. He did however say, "Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for someone who is rich to enter the kingdom of God." (Matthew 19:24). He also said, "Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me." (Matther 25:45). You'd think a christian company would know the tenants that its faith is based upon. You being ignorant of them, I'll just chalk up to it being Tuesday morning. I did get a giggle that an atheist had to explain to a christian the values promoted in the New Testament, so thank you for that at least.

Well, I've learned a couple of things today.
1) You clearly have never run a business, nor been responsible for anything significant considering your ignorance on what profit and EBIT are.
2) You clearly can't read or are intellectually dishonest as you chose to ignore the stimulus package, which is a huge factor in this conversation.

Even Trump isn't taking a salary for being President. But to you guys, that's not good enough. Even Obama kept his salary.
Learn to fucking read. This bullshit claim of your has been debunked several fucking times. I'll spell it out for you; Trump made a big show giving up his $400,000 so he could pocket millions housing diplomats in his hotel, forcing the military to use his properties overseas and charge the secret service for MILLIONS. Do the fucking math. Only a complete fucking moron would believe that generosity is defined by giving hundreds of thousands with one hand and taking tens of millions with the other.

Just saw that Macy's is putting a shit-ton of workers on furlough. Due to reasons, most of them dollars.

Macy's CEO Jeff Gennette and the company's board of directors will stop receiving their salaries. But the furloughed workers will continue to receive their company healthcare at least thru May.

Compare that to the sanctimonious bastards running Hobby Lobby, Halfie (no 2-week notice, no severance, no sacrifice, no loyalty). Then explain to me why i should stop saying bad things about greedy corporate fucksticks.

Bet you anything Hobby Lobby will put their hand up for that sweet government charity as well.

I'm sure you think this response is actually a response but you're wrong. Still/again/same difference

I hopefully never want to hear leftists or progressives complaining about big businesses ever again.
Fear not, nave. Nothing will prevent you from "hearing" whatever it is you wish to hear. The voices in your head shouldn't be affected by the virus.

What say you guys?

Since you asked... I say you are an idiot with a very simple imagination. Thank you for asking.

With all the people losing their jobs now, they now realize just how important these big businesses are for their survival. Tons of people are out of work wondering how they are going to make money. But when they are employed, they have nothing but bad words for these companies.

I hopefully never want to hear leftists or progressives complaining about big businesses ever again. You see what happens when they shut down. Millions of people become stressed and scared for money.

What say you guys?

It really does work both ways.

My boss was very appreciative that I gave up my weekend to cover 2 employees that are now in virus quarantine. Yes, I was paid a lot to do this but I really would have preferred staying home.

My industry is vital to the nation (steel making) and my job is very specialized and technical (hard to replace at a moment's notice).

It really does work both ways. We are all important to each other.

My boss was very appreciative that I gave up my weekend to cover 2 employees that are now in virus quarantine.
there's just something about appreciation from a boss who truly understands what you gave up and what you actually contributed, too.

The "liberal media" is composed of corporations, thus by Half-Life's "reasoning", it is absolutely good.

James Damore was fired by a corporation, thus by HL's "reasoning", it was a completely legitimate and just act.

Several social-media companies have dropped Alex Jones, and by HL's "reasoning", those actions were completely legitimate.
