Thor Heyerdahl abdnocean migration

That would be interesting, shipping six elephants in a reed boat....

I would like to see it. From shore, or another boat.9

Looks like the documentary is behind a pay wall.

Thor Heyerdahl is best-known for his theory that the Polynesian people came from South America instead of from East Asia. He demonstrated the feasibility of a colonizing voyage by building a balsa-wood raft that he named the Kon-Tiki, and then sailing it from South America to the Tuamotu Islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.

I remember reading about his expedition in my childhood.

The mainstream consensus is that the Polynesians had come from south China after doing a lot of island-hopping. Taiwan, the Philippines, Indonesia, ... However, some Polynesian explorers could well have reached South America and then returned to their islands with sweet potatoes. Thus explaining how these crop plants got there without the Polynesians having to come from South America.
