I wasn't able to find a YouTube link. Sorry.
The video demonstrates how Tucker Carlson has been using white nationalist talking points. The usual people deny this of course, but that doesn't change the fact that Carlson is making the same arguments as white nationalists. Even if you insist that we should not apply the label, the fact remains that he is promoting many of the same beliefs, so the difference is academic.
Anyway, the point I want to make is about civic nationalism vs white nationalism (or the euphemism "ethnic nationalism" that cryptofascists like to use), as this can help you spot white nationalists given that they are rarely honest about who and what they are.
Americans believe that Americans share a common identity through ideas, mainly ideas about how to arrange government, how to hold government accountable, and the proper relationship between the individual and society and/or the government.
White nationalists believe that American identity is based on blood, that only white Anglo-Saxon protestants count as American at all and everyone else is a dirty outsider. Of course, if you think identity through blood is the most important thing, then we need to acknowledge that we stole this country from the people who were already living here, and send everyone else back to whatever countries our ancestors came from.
Anyway, if you've seen any of the many videos on social media covering racist tirades, you probably scratched your head like I did that many of these racists seem to think that people who are obviously American don't count as American just because they are the wrong race, ethnicity, religion, etc.
This confused the heck out of me because like most Americans, I was taught that our national identity and sense of nationalism came from shared ideas/ideals. It turns out that a rather large percentage of white people don't think anyone else counts as American at all, which is why so many of those ranting racists on those videos on social media say those bizarre things.
