I had a friend, an ultra conservative Catholic and a registered nurse, who became a nun around 2005. She was the type of Catholic who thought the church should go back to preforming their services in Latin, and she thought everyone who wasn’t a Roman Catholic (in good standing) was going to hell.
She couldn’t find a convent in the US that would accept her. She ended up joining a convent in Spain.
I bet there'd be more nuns if they gave 'em bigger hats and flying lessons.
Looking at lpetrich's list, it appears the only countries where the population of nuns has increased is Tanzania, the Phillipines, and India. I wonder if any research has been done on why those countries are going against the trend?
