US Power Will Decline Under Trump, Says Futurist Who Predicted Soviet Collapse

You don't understand what Galtung has said.

Galtung is quite clear that the fate of the US empire is not decided inside the US. Only the implications are
I understand Galtung well enough. In fact, I understood it before he opened his mouth, as did anyone who has read Paul Kennedy's The Rise and Decline of Nations (which was written over 20 years ago).

Suuuure. Why did you say the at Galtung says the decline is due to Trump then?

Apparently you don't even bother to read your own links or your own OP:

Galtung told Motherboard that Trump would probably continue this trajectory of accelerated decline—and may even make it happen quicker. that Trump would probably continue this trajectory of accelerated decline—and may even make it happen quicker.
.

Really, educate yourself and read Paul Kennedy's The Rise and Fall of Great Powers (sorry, got the title wrong in the previous post) instead of the usual pile of Putinesque propaganda.

Quote mining wont help you. All you've done is quote mine to try to back up your mistake.
That doesn't say what you want it to.

Rather than lecture me, why not try to understand Galtungs position, and then comment.

Trump is just going to continue something that was already in train. It doesn't say the decline itself is due to Trump. Which is what you want it to say.

Like a lot of Americans on this forum, you are hyper sensitive about any perceived criticism of America. All you can do is have a kneejerk reaction.
Most Americans I meet are quite as hyper sensitive as you. Get out more.

My first post in this thread was " The US "empire" has been declining for years and will continue to decline regardless of who is the US President. " So what exactly are you babbling about now?

Really, have someone read Paul Kennedy's book to you - it is a fascinating read. Hopefully they will be explain it to you in words you can understand.

The American 'Empire' only consists of a few small islands, the largest and most populous of which is well on its way to statehood.

What you're really referring to is American Hegemony. I feel this is an important distinction because the word 'Empire' has lots of baggage and negative connotations that don't really apply to the US, making its application to the country unfair and hyperbolic. Military bases who's placement and continued existence relies on the consent of and payment of rents to the 'client state' does not an empire make.

US power has been in decline for a while now. It started when you folks began turning your back on science. China and India are the future, not America.

We don't know that, to be truthful. It's not necessarily helpful to make too many simplistic equations.

Why should the future be China and India and not America? There is are many possibilities. It could be all three...or ...other things as well

Whop cares about what "should" be? The fact is that such vital functions as Tech Support already ARE the domain of India and Pakistan. Watch what happens if Trump's anti-education Education Secretary gets her way...

US has some inherent advantages that are likely to not go away: large, varied land mass with ample resources. Lots of people sharing common language, culture and internal markets. Functioning political and economic system. Trade and partnership with nearly every country in the world.

China and India also have their advantages: both are likewise huge countries, with an order of magnitude more people than US, and while they may be lag behind a bit in politics and economy these are fixable in the long term while natural resources and the people are not going anywhere. I think that cult scifi series Firefly made the right prediction in that future of civilization is going to be a amalgam of American and Chinese cultures.

If I were to predict the losers of this century, I'd say Russia, Europe, Middle-East.
