How the Republican War on Women Extends to Voting Rights

Most women vote Democratic. And most still change their name when they marry. And that’s where the GOP sees an Achilles’ heel.

You have to prove citizenship to vote. ID + birth certificate. Oops--that doesn't work for women who took their husband's name. They'll either need a passport (something the majority of Americans do not have) or a legal name change.

This is so extreme I suspect they didn't realize the problem.

Huh? Didn’t realize?? According to the article that is the point! To disenfranchise women, who typically vote Democratic. They don’t care if they also disenfranchise Republican women, as long as they disenfranchise more Democratic women.
