Well, some right-wing think tank can't do simple math and decided to publish a paper to prove how bad voter fraud is in Virginia.

paper said:
Ultimately, the number of illegal votes doesn’t matter when the integrity of the process is at
stake.
Translation, we didn't find a lot of voter fraud.

paper said:
This report demonstrates the serious problem that unelected election officials have refused to address and even conspired to hide. It is our hope that this report will result in swift change and restore confidence in our elections.
It's yuge!

The paper then blabbles on for a while about how great they are and how the Government impeded on their righteous investigation. Then we get to the good stuff!

paper said:
In the 8 jurisdictions that provided us with lists of aliens recently removed from their voter rolls, we discovered that 31 non-citizens had cast a total of 186 votes between 2005 and 2015. The most alien votes were cast in 2012 followed by 2008, the year President Obama was elected to his first term.
This is where that inadequacy in math comes out. Those 8 Jurisdictions, 31 non-citizens had voted. That 8 jurisdictions have a lot of people living in them, approximately 580,000. I know, 31 v 580,000 it's yuuuuuge!!!

In 2008, voter turnout in Virginia was 65%. Assume, 3/5's of population is voting age, then 65% of that votes ----> 31 people in 226200 voters. That would be 0.014% or roughly 1 in 7000 actual voters in the analysis region.

I know, voter fraud is destroying America!

Well, obviously if voter fraud is too small to matter then my vote is too small to matter.

31 > 1. It's math.

Every fraudulent voter cancels out 100,000 votes.

The most alien votes were cast in 2012 followed by 2008, the year President Obama was elected to his first term.
Impeach

Lots of problems in the world. Some big, some small. We tend to go after the impactful one's because they um have an impact on things. The biggest impact voter fraud seems to have is on republican integrity.

dismal it right. It is best to enact legislation that will prevents hundreds of legal votes to protect from a couple dozen illegal votes.

I kinda agree with dismal here. Really, I do. Don't those congress critters want their "1" vote to be counted? Do they care if when a close vote is tallied up they lose by one vote and there are six votes more than there are congress critters? Should they say 'no big deal'?

Do court members and jurors and board members everywhere care about their one vote?

It does matter and it should be fixed.

It does matter and it should be fixed.
.
Yawn... the republican "cure" is to prevent hundreds of thousands of black and disadvantaged voters from having a say. You think they're really worried about voter FRAUD?? Hell no, they're worried about VOTERS, period.

Yes, the integrity of the system should be immaculate. But the Republican answer is to work to prevent magnitudes more legal vote than preventing illegal votes.

Voter fraud is a Republican conspiracy to promote legislation designed to restrict groups likely to vote for Democrats.

There have been multiple investigations into illegal or multiple voting over the past 15 or 20 years and all have found the problem negligible.

The real "voter fraud" consists of purging eligible voters from the voting rolls, tampering with voting machines or with with ballots.

That's ELECTION fraud, not voter fraud.

Voter fraud is what happens when a single voter casts a ballot when he's not supposed to.

Election fraud is what happens when a single candidate -- either personally or through others acting on his or her behalf -- alters the final count of ballots to work out in his or her favor.

Republicans aren't concerned with election fraud because it's harder to do without getting caught. They're concerned with voter fraud because it's way easier -- and way more legal -- to keep eligible voters away from the polls than it is to tamper with ballots after they've been cast. And they've known this for a couple of hundred years, which is why in the past they've done it with things like poll taxes, literacy tests, citizenship tests, IQ tests, limiting the polling time in places where black people were voting (e.g. Cicero, back in the day, used to be known for closing its polling stations whenever officials noticed too many black people in the line. Most places aren't that brazen anymore, but Cicero is SPECIAL like that).
