I was just wondering why there are walls in the new Jerusalem. Walls are used for defense but according to last chapter of Revelation Satan and his followers are destroyed. No enemies to defend against. Also why is there no more sea. Thanks for any answers.

1: The creators of the story could not imagine a city without walls and gates. If they had been Spartans then heaven would have had no walls, because Sparta had no walls.

2: The Walls are to keep the inhabitants IN, not anything out.

3: The walls are no longer there. After the Revolution that created the Peoples' Republic of Heaven, the walls were torn down.

The walls are to give Christians the impression that they are the only inhabitants of Heaven, an exclusive little club, the rest of it is open to all comer's, Hindus, Atheists, Witches and Warlocks, Lunatics and Mathematicians...

Interesting how the culture at the time shapes the bible. Revelation also there is no night therefore the gates are left open. But since all emenies are destroyed the walls are unnessary weird

If infants need swaddling to feel in a safe womb like environment, the Walls of Heaven are representative of swaddling sheets for the mental Infants of Religious belief.
