Trump's Unfavorables Spike, but Clinton's Challenged, Too (Poll)

CLINTON-VS-TRUMP.png

Seven in 10 Americans saw Donald Trump unfavorably in a new ABC News/Washington Post poll — up 10 points in just the past month to a new high since he announced his candidacy for president. But Hillary Clinton reached a new high for unfavorability as well, 55 percent.

The results illustrate the striking challenges facing both candidates, cementing their position as the two most unpopular presumptive major party nominees for president in ABC News/Washington Post polling dating to 1984.

How do you lead a nation when over half that nation just doesn't like you?

This has been the practice in the UK where the party that wins gets the most seats. A party can win the majority of seats in the House of Commons with the majority of Seats.

As you suggested this could be because they think one is less of a bad choice.

Congress has even lower ratings. Nobody in Washington cares as long as they are in the job and still getting their fat paycheck.

I have long considered the election as voting for the lesser evil.

I'd argue that such "favorability" ratings are largely personal likability ratings, and as such have almost no relevance or importance to doing the job of an elected office.

The real problem is with the US voters who vote as if they are electing a Prom King or Queen, and thus think personal likability is relevant. Highly likable presidents are actually dangerous, because this gives them cover to do more heinous and illegal things Reagan is a good example of this.

Well, I lived for 8 years under a president that I didn't like, Bush. Not having who you want isn't a new thing....

Favorability polls.

Did you know that Putin is the most popular leader on Earth? His favorability rating is 86%

He must be doing a great job!

I'm super jelly.

To be fair, Putin's only at that level because the Russian economy is tanking and bullets are expensive, so it's taking longer than planned to deal with that other 14%. Give the man some time and he'll have those numbers go up.
