Why don't the do-gooders and liberals help the Caravan reach Canada?

I don't understand what the big deal is. Clearly the US is a terrible place to be anything other than a WASP. But we do have an excellent interstate system here. Why don't we simply meet the caravan at the Mexican border and escort the refugees through to Canada? Hell, we have the financial resources to bus them and make their trip through the US much more pleasant than their trek through Mexico. And much cooler weather for them once they reach Canada.

Any Canadians on this board? How do you feel about meeting these refugees at your border?
Even if Canadians were okay with this (they too have a crazy xenophobic wing), why should we use our tax dollars to subsidize the Canadian economy? It is a hard but consistent law of history that when people start leaving more than they are coming, empires are about to begin their fall. And progressives are as a general rule well-educated, we aren't apt to want to repeat ancient mistakes in the present.
Having a lot of unskilled people does not make a country great.

If you do not believe me, just try to immigrate into Australia.

I already did that in the mid 1990s (at which time, my skills consisted of a demonstrated ability to lift heavy objects and read the labels on boxes).

I still don't believe you.

And I completely fail to see the relevance of the latter to the former - how does immigration to Australia in any way tell us anything about how many unskilled people are needed for a country to achieve greatness? How are you even measuring 'greatness'? You appear not to be making any sense at all - you are using a lot of words, but none of those words seem to be on speaking terms with any of the others.

Someone said that a country can not be great unless there are a lot of people moving into it. But Australia is the perfect example of just the opposite:

1. Australia has very few people to begin with. It has the land mass of the US with a population the size of Los Angeles.

2. Australia has very steep immigration laws. Much more difficult than the US to move there. There is no such thing as scaling the wall there either because the whole country is isolated by ocean.

3. Yet Australia is a first rate country. At least on a par with US or Canada for standard of living.

That is why I felt the discussion of Australia was relevant.

Except that it really isn't. A lot of goods there are prohibitively expensive and they treat their first peoples about as well as I treat dog shit that has been lodged in my boot. Their government is full of racist nationalists, as well.
