From an over the top and probably trolling jackass. And this is coming from me who does really get sick of otherwise decent TV shows like Agent Carter getting ruined by having her being able to destroy men in fights that an average man would run away from. She should have used her smarts, cool weapons and agility to beat those guys not brute power that realistically she can not have against those bruisers.

The only good point (unintentional I am sure) that is interesting is whether having pretty women being kick-ass fighters is not feminist but actually is pandering to male nerds.

But god, the rest of his argument is just pathetic.

Maybe if you go to an MRA rally and hoist a sign and yell about how you're being oppressed by women, maybe that will make you feel better?

You can tell the ladies what you did at the MRA rally, and they will swoon at how manly you are.

I'm laughing so hard at this.

Your argument applies to almost every single action movie or show ever made, where the good guy defeats hordes of mooks who can't shoot, throw a punch or coordinate their attacks, while the hero fights on despite bullet wounds and massive blunt force trauma.

Yet that only ruins the show when the person doing the unbelievable shit-kicking in a woman?

I don't even want to watch the clip--no doubt it is 100% pathetic.

Yep. An on-screen fight goes from being 1000x over-the-top when a man is the fighter and its 2000x over-the-top when its a woman fighter. In either case, its completely ridiculous. But mindlessly entertaining, regardless, which is why we go to movies in the first place. If we want to see reality in fighting, then we can stay home and watch shaky camera street fights on youtube.

His video does kind of hit home though, when he talks about women and spiders. Or mice & rats for that matter. I've observed this a lot in my occupation and I've never understood the irrational and almost hysterical fear.

Believe me, yes, lots of women have the ooks about things, but most women scream to men for help for the sheer convenience of him getting rid of something they consider icky and if it makes him feel more manly doing so, all the better.

Good example is a friend of mine's grandmother. Lived on a farm all her life. She hated snakes, couldn't stand them, shrieked hysterically whenever she came across them in her garden. Her husband would come running to the rescue and while she retreated, he dispatched the poor serpent.

Years later, grandson is visiting his grandmother on the farm. She's a widow now, her husband long laid to rest. He gets up one morning, goes outside to look for her and finds her in the garden, quietly and efficiently dispatching a snake with her hoe.

Men are useful for these kinds of things, but if they're not around, ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

Just happened to have reruns of America's Funniest Videos on tv this morning, and the grand prize winner was two men shrieking and screaming because they were startled by a spider in a box.

One of my workmates carries on like that when she sees a spider. It probably works at home but it doesn't work in the office. The boss has absolutely no tolerance for that hysterical shit from her employees, and this particular employee has been warned for swearing and screaming when spiders do appear. It's totally unwarranted and no-one else does it.

A coworker has a phobia about cats. Refuses to look at them or touch a picture of them and had me move my "spooky Halloween cat" from the reception desk or she'd not pass that way. Anyone starts to bring up 'unwarranted' and 'overreaction' she lets them know it's a real fear and to not belittle or dismiss it.

That is the only insect that creeps me out and it is in a spoiler box to not derail too much.

Anyway, his points are kind of moot for a comedy movie. Melissa McCarthy can be really good in the right role. So the movie may be good. I think Portia DeRossi would be great in the movie for say a government baddy - ala the dickless bureaucrat. Having women characters instead of men will require a slighy different approach but nowhere near what the guy on video suggested. He seems to want to go back to the 1880s.

For fight scenes I like ones like in The Bourne Ulitimatum that are usually one to one and where Bourne also gets wrecked.

I saw a movie by this guy, called "How to be a man". It was okay, but it does seems like being a manly man is his thing.

I will be happy as long as they include Slimer

While it's probably true that many men are just as afraid of spiders, two men isn't a large enough sample size to determine that. /nitpick :D

I have a spider phobia. I don't go round screaming or crap like that though. I get the vacuum and suck that little bugger up. Sometimes I have snatched them off the wall with a handful of paper and a loud "HI YAH!" shout

I can't wait for the new Ghostbusters movie. One of my favourite films when I was a kid. I'm just ignoring the haters. Simple.
