With the Health Care Retraction Act on ice for now, Republicans look elsewhere to disappoint

WASHINGTON DC -- Optimism was up in DC after news of the defections of Utah Senator Mike Lee and Kansas Senator Moran from the health care repeal bill. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell was upbeat, "Look, we are disappointing our voters on almost everything. We need to carry this momentum."

The momentum likely will include a tax reform bill. "It is very unlikely that we have time to pass a tax reform bill," noted the Senate Majority Leader, "before the budget needs to be passed, so we see that as another great way to disappoint our supporters."

The temporary spending bill only took the US to the end of the Fiscal Year, which means come September, a new spending bill must be passed. Mitch McConnell seemed upbeat about even disappointing there. "Oh goodness yes! We have a lot of spending cuts and tax cuts planned in an announcement, but we'll likely need to abandon those plans and just kick the can down the road another 3 to 6 months with status quo spending."

However, after that disappointment, the Republicans will need to find something else to disappoint over, until re-election season starts in November.

You mean they look for something else to destroy in the name of making America greater.

They have no plans for making anything better.

Make something better?

To even try is to admit government is good for something.

So instead all they do is destroy because their religion tells them to create is a sin.

Right now, their batting average hasn't been great. They have the SCOTUS appointment, but they haven't reversed Dodd Frank yet and their attempt to kill ACA has failed, so far. The Democrats passed ACA with 60 votes and it did take a bit to get there, so Republican "Health Care" isn't quite dead, though I don't see how McConnell can pass a bill when the health insurance companies are saying the Cruz amendment it insane.

There is room for damage, but the Republicans have not been as successful as they wanted. To make matters worse, without McCain, that makes passing legislation without a filibuster much harder.

They will take up the disaster of a budget that 45 put forth. this should be interesting. Finding ways to give the wealthy more money.

For their "alternative" how many hearings did they have? How many experts did they talk to?
