Would sex with the missing link ( like lucy our ancestor ) be wrong?

At what point would it be considered wrong to have sex with members of our ancestors family.
For instance the cousin of a grandparent and what not.

How far back in our heritage does it become wrong to engage with those beings.

Considered wrong by whom?

There is no objective standard to apply; there is no authority to decide where to draw the line. Some would say that sex is wrong outside a monogamous heterosexual relationship with a person who is at least a specified genealogical distance from you, endorsed by a qualified representative of a specific sect of a specific religion. Others would say that there is nothing wrong with any sexual relationship that does not involve force or coercion. There is a huge spectrum of possibilities in between, and with 7 billion humans currently alive, you can probably find someone who agrees, at least in part, with almost any position on that spectrum.

This thread probably belongs in the Morals and Principles forum - there is no scientific answer to the question posed.

To me it comes down to the mental abilities of who you are having sex with, not in how far apart the species are.

So sex, in your mind, is entirely divorced from the pleasure one can have with someone who is really talented at sex, but less talented at rocket science?

Someone who specialized in one area should not be thrown under the bus because their talents get us off, but don't get us off the planet.

There wouldn't be much of a way to consent with it since its means of communication would have been very different from ours.

No. I'm not saying it's wrong to have sex with someone who is stupid. They can still consent. I'm saying the actual issue is sex with something that can't consent. (And even there I'm borderline--I think the applicable law should be animal cruelty. If the animal isn't being harmed it's sick but I have a hard time calling it illegal.)
