Directv is dropping Newsmax. And now 40 GOP House members sent an angry letter to AT&T and indicated their disapproval of AT&T colluding with the Democrats to censor conservative news channels.
Of course, part of the issue is Newsmax went from paying to be carried to wanting to be paid to be carried. AT&T/Directv were like "umm... no we'll find some other fascist right-wing network that'll pay us for carriage". And they did. That network is TheFirst.
Of course, the fascists in the US House were angry, because without Newsmax on television, that leaves only Fox News... and whomever Newsmax was replaced by. Newsmax started as a website that provided right-wingers with lots of ads to buy Iraqi currency, physical gold with high transaction fees, and self-defense programs. In 2014, they wanted to get a piece of the Cable Network pie. Their programming on television was just as high quality as their website... but blonder with more moving cleavage. And when Trump came around, they were certain to provide news coverage that was more a hat tip to George Orwell than actual news coverage.
The trouble was, they wanted to make money, but were actually having to pay people to broadcast their channel. So, they stepped forward and said "we want haz cheezburger"... and AT&T/Directv said "no can haz cheezburger."
So the House GOP'ers are angry. Because they need to be angry, it is all they have left as a platform.
