A cult is a group or movement with a strong focus on a charismatic leader or ideology, often characterized by excessive devotion, manipulation, and isolation from the outside world. Yet right now in real time we see ultra tight MAGA supporters up in arms over the Trump's administration handling of the Epstein client list. In particular that no one has been exposed or sent to jail for sex crimes. That Trump is covering up and that no one is asking or investigating Israel involvement in the matter. This isn't the first time MAGA has stood directly against Trump but it appears to be the most obvious IMO. To call MAGA a cult is a ridiculous thing to say considering members like Musk and Tucker Carlson are openly criticizing their leader. That is not how cults behave.

You can not be a cult if you are not devoted to your leader. It is the platform he ran on that they were and are still devoted to.
 
MAGA is the tea party movement that became even more unhinged and flew off the rails. People like Carlson (and Trump) and the like use MAGA for personal benefit. Trump has robbed his supporters with Stop the Steal and Crypto. MAGA is the dumbest sorry ass partisan idiot cult our nation has ever known. These fuckers think Trump cares about them.

Really? I saw a small amount of outrage at first but now almost every post by MAGAts support the administration's decision about the Epstein debacle. Many now blame the Biden administration saying they falsified the files or they were lost under his watch. Look at the resonses to this post.

So the cult's hold on it's members is not absolute. So what? It is loosing it's hold. Still a cult.
Leah Remini managed to leave Scientoligy. And very publicly criticized it. So you think that ain't a cult?

People often wake up and leave cuts. Cults sometimes die out. In fact cults often die out. Look at the historical examples of cult leaders. Sometimes they end after the leader dies, but not always. One can only hope that the MAGA cult dies a sudden death, but I'm not holding my breath. Still, it does appear as if some are breaking way from the cult. I read about a dozen articles last night about how cults end, so I would suggest that Rvonse do the same as he seems to have a limited understanding of cults.

One think that was consistent in what I read is that cults are almost always lead by a charismatic, malignant narcissistic male. I think that describes Trump quite well. Most of us may not find him to be charismatic, but it's quite obvious that his cult followers do. Plus, let's not forget that not all of those who voted for Trump were members of his cult. Some saw him, mistakenly, as the lesser of two evils when they voted for him.

Nothing else this bronzed sociopath did has them convulsing. They're clueless about his bizarre trade war 'policy', his betrayal of Ukraine, his trashing of the U.S. reputation worldwide. But Epstein, because it's such a National Enquirer subject, has them snapping at their leashes. Yeah, the country has a bright future and we're great again.
 
I don’t *think* most hardcore MAGAtards are in a cult; I *know* they are.

In my lifetime, I’ve voted for, and supported, presidents of both parties, some more wholeheartedly than others. The one I was unquestionably most passionately excited about was Obama, but even at the zenith of my support for him, I never tethered my very identity to him the way these Trumpers do to Trump.

Never owned an article of clothing with Obama’s name on it, had no stickers on my car, wouldn’t have flown a giant Obama flag from my home for a million dollars (and NOT because I feared Righty vandalism—although, realistically, that’s the team that thinks of that as justifiable expression.)

I was energized by Kamala Harris’ short campaign, yet somehow didn’t feel the need to wrap myself up in her name and make damn sure my undying love for her was visible from space.

Trump’s most ardent base doesn’t “support” him so much as they literally idolize him. The convicted felon who’s done so very much wrong CAN do no wrong in their addled minds; they’ve completely surrendered their ability to rationally judge him in context of how other people act or speak, yet alone how other presidents have acted or spoken.

Trump stands uniquely alone, purposefully gifted to us by the creator of the universe according to millions of MAGA faithful, a perfect specimen impervious to any measure of criticism.

Sorry, but that’s a cult.
 
Wait until a large segment of elderly MAGAs find out that Social Security payments are taxed. Maybe the cult will more escapees. The problem is that the desperate and self-interested are pretty easy to dupe.
 
It's not a cult because some prominent members are speaking out? Gosh, I guess Scientology isn't a cult anymore, either. Leah Remini - a lifelong Scientologist - had a very successful show co-hosted by the late Mike Rinder (a high ranking Scientologist) that featured interviews with other former members, including one lady who escaped the compound by hiding in the trunk of a car.

All the tales of forced manual labor, imprisonment, possible murder (where's Shelley?) and lives ruined must all be BS because some prominent members left, huh?

Someone better tell Tom Cruise...

Yeah. You normally see a charismatic leader because it usually takes that to actually recruit a cult, but it's not actually a requirement. And while it probably took someone like The Felon to be a figurehead for MAGA it won't go away with his death.
