It's amazing using Musk and Carlson as examples here. "Criticizing their leader?" That implies they are followers, and clearly they are instead relatively powerful opportunists.
Musk and Trump just recently had a very public breakup full of tantrums from both sides. And if anything, part of the resurgence of the Epstein controversy is due to Musk's prodding Trump in the aftermath.
As for Carlson, how can we forget what his real feelings about Trump are/were given the texts revealed during the Dominion defamation lawsuit:
