Science minded atheists complain about religions getting tax breaks. Being absolutely for total separation of church and state I happen to agree with them on that, but how hypocritical is it of them when the majority of funding for science comes from taxpayers. And what are they doing with your money?

Not to mention chemical and biological weapons of mass destruction, eugenics, gain of function; they've poisoned our air, water, land, food, seeds, children and minds.

Says the guy using the internet. I suppose you think Sky Daddy poofed the internet into existence by blinking his eyes three times?

Maybe you didn’t know that the internet began as a government project in the 1960s called DARPANet.

As to your little list above, to the extent that it is accurate, that would be capitalism, not science, and in the case of WMDs, those were government decisions. Richard Oppenheimer, the scientist who is generally regarded as the father of the bomb, strove to avoid an arms race and place WMDs under international control but was rebuffed by Harry Truman.

Try to learn some history.

The mostly religious framers of the constitutions gave freedom of religion in the 1st Amendment.

Knowing what it was like under the colonial British state religion they also prohibited laws promoting religion, and prohibited religious tests for office. Separation of church and state.

Science is not a religion or ideology. It is a process that generates material results. Radio, TV, MRI machines, vaccines, computers.

Starting in the late 19th century with the industrial revolution technology has made the global economy go providing all the essentials we need plus all the niceties of modern life.

Funding of research is an investment in the future. A lot of it is defense related. I worked for Lockheed in the 1980s on weapons systems. In the day the defense industry provided training and experience for beginning engineers who then wet out into the economy. I was one of them.

Comparing funding of religion to funding science is a false equivalence.

Science conflicts with religion, so find ways to attack and diminish science, we have heard it many times on the forum.

'secular science' and 'atheist science' is a bogeyman created by region as a defense against objective physical science refuting religious claims. Like YEC.

WMD? God destroyed surface life with a great flood covering the Earth, the ultimate WMD.

The negative consequences is a moral and ethical issue. Science is made up of flesh and blood humans of all kinds. Not just 'atheists'.

The RCC has always been a mix of religion and science. Newton was a Christian. His work was a foundation for modern science and technology, still true today.

Your attack on science fails.

Nit knowing any science, I expect the fact that you think lights will turn on when you flip a switch is a matter of faith in something you do not understand. You have an implicit faith in science wnen you board a jet and it takes off.

Science conflicts with religion
For the most part, I completely agree with everything you said in your post but this quote needs clarification in my opinion.

Science may indeed conflict with religion but it does not conflict with faith. Religion is not faith; it is a manmade construct used to control people. Faith is an entirely personal matter between the believer and God.

I have faith, but I also have much respect for science and scientists who have given us so much over the years. Our lives would be greatly diminished if science was ever stopped or abandoned.

Evolution vs creationism continues to be a source of conflict with Christians.

I have heard 'atheist science is out to destroy religion' on FOX News commentray and similar on Christian TV and radio.

Back in the 90s Christian tried to get get Intelligent Design taught in public school science classes. The tred to ban evolution in classes. A lot work e was de by Christians to refute evolution uisng science.

There was a long runningg battle by Christians to get evolution out of pub lic education.

Several court cases ruled it was religion not science.

In the 90s here in Washington a Christian state legislator pushed a bill that would require all school science texts have disclaimers that said there are 'alternative explanations to science'.

While you may be a rational Christian you are in a small minority.

Look on line for thee Christian science museum. Displays of humans existing with dinosaurs. I iknew a Christian who claimed that humans existed with dinosaurs is in the bible.

Or search on bible Christian humans existing with dinosaurs.

Fox News, I am not surprised.

Some time back wild and domesticated bee hives were collapsing for unknown reasons. A serous crisis for both agricultural and wild plant pollination.

I listened to Shaun Humanity on FOX mock federal spending on research to find a cause.

Either ignorance of high school biology or playing to the FOX News audience, I go with ignorance.

The video is the usual FOX tabloid journalism.

About 20 years ago, some American bees died from “colony collapse disorder.” The media soon warned of a "bee-pocalypse" and that it might devastate our food supply. But while the media was in a buzz, beekeepers adjusted and rebuilt their colonies. Since then, there are 31% more bees in America.“We're not in any way facing an apocalypse,” says Jon Entine of the Genetic Literacy Project ( http://geneticliteracyproject.org ). “Things have never been better in terms of the numbers of bees.”Do the media stop their fearmongering? NO!

You are just copying from the net, another theist utterly ignorant of basic science ranting against the science that his or hers life depends on. Barrages of videos.

The silly FOX tabloid video you put in the OP tells me all I need to know about you.

Yes, bees recovered, after scientific analysis and responses based on analysis paid in part by government funding.

It was a serious issue in the day.

Are you an anti vaxxer or do you get vaccinations based on research paid in part by the government?

The worst part is how boring this is. Usually it's what? 3 or 4 junk threads before pre-ex-member becomes post-ex-member?

But it's never the best and brightest that dig up this internet fossil of a forum to bother...

Like, I would say if SIB really wants to show us the strength of their faith and devotion to the kingdom of heaven, they'll take the Matthew 19:12 challenge... But that's too on the nose too at this point.

I've asked them what, maybe 3-4 times? Granted everyone else piling on in the other threads probably is what sent them some promptly to hide behind their wall of unearned arrogance that can only be constructed with the mortar of young adult ignorance?

I imagine every time that it might be different... They could be here in good faith, perhaps ready to consider doubt as a tool of knowledge... But they never are.

Now, they're attacking the literal practice of testing one's assumptions rigorously.

A test of faith, a standard, especially one being devised by you?

Thalt shalt not be daft.. would be a good commandment.

It's like saying: "If you believe in the resurrection shoot yourself and let's see".
Its a daft test. We shall not be duped.
