Why would a hospital donate to the Rump campaign?
I'm not even talking about the small rual hospitals that will die from budget cuts.
My local Hospital is BIG, huge. Geisinger Medical Systems ownes over 100 hospitals throughout Pennsylvania.
They are on a list of corperate big campaign doners. Donated big to Rump, and nothing to Democrats.
I don't get it. It's well known Repugs have been wanting to gut Medicare for decades. Don't hospitals love medicare money?
Their care has been great. But I can't affotd it. If/when I loose medicare, they loose me as patient.
So why would they support Rump?

Well maybe.
But I have the impression they know how to game the system.
They tried to sign me up for: an exercize program (their gym for seinors), their 'sleep disorders' clinic (retirement cured me of that), a walker from their pharmacy (I walk just fine), a weight monator (wi-fi enabled bathroom scale).
And currently trying to talk me into a heart monator IMPLANT (also wi-fi enabled).
All would be paid by medicare.
I am greatful for my heart surgry. I went in expecting a double bypass, came out with a quad bypass. Thankfuly paid by medicare. Now I'm wondering if I needed the upgrade, or were they padding the bill.

Why is Zelensky oozing with praise for Trump? Because it works with Trump.

From local reporting Medicare reimbursement is below hospital costs and cist for prvate doctors..
While a large majority of doctors continue to accept Medicare, there are growing concerns about access due to low reimbursement rates
.

reimbursement rates are typically less than the cost of care, particularly with fee-for-service. In 2022, Medicare paid hospitals just 82 cents for every dollar they spent on Medicare patients, resulting in billions of dollars in underpayments. Hospitals attempt to offset these losses through other payers, such as private insurance, and by managing costs, though many hospitals still struggle financially due to these shortfalls.

labor, drugs, and supplies
, while reimbursements from government payers like Medicare and Medicaid have not kept pace. This has led to significant challenges, with about 40% of hospitals losing money in 2024, though some have managed to recover by shifting to outpatient care or better controlling labor costs.

Large hospitals get research and other federal grants. Trump tried to cut off research grants to schools that opposed his polices.

My guess is the hospital for whatever reason is kissing the king's ring.

Hospitals are in trouble.
