Back to John Allen Chau - the latest media speculation is that he may have been trying to bring about the Second Coming/Armageddon because his missionary society believes this can't happen until everyone on the planet has heard the name of Jeezus.
To quote the Westboro Baptist Church lunatics:
Don't know about statistics, but just Google "missionary deported" or "missionary arrested". :glare:
Well, yeah, if it were really that important, God could just make it rain down copies of the Bible on the island in the tribe's own language. If they don't have a written language (which is quite possible), he could make it an Audiobook. :)
That's pretty much what the Indian authorities concluded when the two trespassing fishermen were killed on the island back in 2006. Even the father of one of the dead men more or less forgave the tribe and admitted his son had no business going there.
It'll be interesting to see if the Indian and/or American governments manage to retrieve him, dead or alive. Kinda reminds me of that American college student who entered the lion's den by going to North Korea and then trying to steal a Kim dynasty banner.
It seems this is not the first time...
It's being reported that he wrote in his diary that God had aided him to evade the coast guard during his illegal boat journey to the island. I wouldn't be surprised if he believed God would magically faith-heal the islanders of any diseases.
