I'm not saying that 12-steppism is all that great, and I'm not saying that there is any actual "Trolls Anonymous" group, but I've thought about how a 12-step "Trolls Anonymous" could go. I have rewritten the original 12 steps to have a much more reasonable "higher power" and to avoid claiming absolute helplessless.
  1. We came to recognize that our trolling had made our online lives unsustainable.
  2. Came to recognize that Trolls Anonymous (TA) was far wiser than us about this issue, and that it could help restore us to sanity.
  3. Decided to get direction from TA in our online lives.
  4. Fearlessly searched our character and our personal history.
  5. Admitted to the TA community, to ourselves, and to other people the exact nature of our offenses.
  6. Got ourselves ready to accept TA's help in curing us of our trollishness.
  7. Humbly cooperated with other TA members in their efforts to help us overcome our trollishness.
  8. Made a list of people we had hurt with our trolling, and became willing to make amends to them.
  9. Made amends to such people as much as possible, describing to them that we were wrong to troll them and accepting admins' decisions to ban us.
  10. Continued to search through our character and actions, and promptly acknowledged any trolling we may have done.
  11. Set aside some time to contemplate our actions and to get a broader perspective and to decide which broader directions to take, including how to avoid trolling.
  12. Having fought our trollishness or even having gotten cured of it, we tried to carry our message to other trolls, and to follow these principles in all our affairs.
