For people familiar with 90's/00's open wheel race car driving, you know of Alex Zanardi. He was incredibly skilled and completely insane race car driver. Until about 2001, where a crash in a 500 led to him being a double leg amputee.
Of course, he'd return to racing on and off, and did pretty well.
But it is 2020! So I was a bit confused when I saw that racer Alex Zanardi was in another accident. The guy was wheel chair racing.
Even if you haven't heard of this guy, you probably should make with a Wiki. He has no quit.

This guy just doesn't know how to stop. Hopefully he can recover from this.article said:The 53-year-old, a former Formula 1 driver turned four-time Paralympic gold medallist, collided with a lorry during a race in Pienza, Italy, on Friday.
A statement from the Sienna hospital where the Italian is being treated said he remained in a stable condition.
It said his "neurological condition remains unchanged in its severity".
Zanardi is in intensive care, sedated, intubated and on a ventilator.
The hospital statement said any reductions in his sedation "to assess his neurological condition", will be considered starting next week.
