that people in the US are living in the matrx

The shoe has dropped and I predict more and more US companies will be following suit removing their exposure to DEI lawsuits. Or at least one would hope common sense will finally prevail. All forms of discrimination are equally bad and people need to be hired by merit and nothing more. So our laws finally appear to recognize this.

I've gotta be honest - this actually took me a little over a minute to debunk instead of the usual 20 seconds when RVonse posts a story.

Firstly, if you haven't heard of VOZ media (I certainly haven't), it is a far right extremist MAGA outlet based in Texas and owned by Orlando Salazar who is vice-chairman of the Republican National Hispanic Assembly (It's an astroturfed GOP initiative that historically has struggled to have significance or even members).

Secondly, the lawsuit was filed by America First Legal. Basically Stephen Miller. I don't think I need to say anything more there.

And finally Vox's (and also FOX incidentally) interpretation of the court ruling is significantly different to that of impartial third party observers.

The Department of Labor (DOL) issued a letter on Dec. 13, outlining the resolution to AFL’s complaint. While the non-profit claimed that American Airlines will “end illegal hiring discrimination,” the DOL did not indicate that the airline will change any policies or that it engaged in any illegal hiring practices.

That is not, however, what the material that American First Legal presents says.

  • There’s no admission or even suggestion that American was engaging in illegal discrimination in pursuit of diversity hiring goals.
  • And there’s no suggestion that American Airlines will change any practices at all.
  • Instead, the Department of Labor simply asserts that American Airlines is aware of its obligations under the law as a federal contractor, and will follow the law (natch).
