I was talking to a friend about them and he is convinced they are libertarian. I said to him, but what do they actually do with their money and influence?
Do they lobby for financial advantage?
What about the think tanks and political groups they fund? Is that part of libertarianism? Are they practicing good faith in their sponsorship of PBS Nova for example? Is that related to libertarianism?
Does how their family originally made money and market share and ownership stakes affect their right to claim libertarian "purity"?
I really don't know much about them, but I would bet some of you here know a lot more.
I don't care about their rhetoric or ideology, but the nuts and bolts about their use of power.
What about the libertarianism of ideas and not just of wealth? In some ways l think that people like the Koch Brothers are trying to get something like the Divine Right of Kings instilled but for wealth.
