The  Children's Crusade
Traditional accounts

The variants of the long-standing story of the Children's Crusade have similar themes. A boy began preaching in either France or Germany claiming that he had been visited by Jesus and told to lead a Crusade to peacefully convert Muslims to Christianity. Through a series of supposed portents and miracles he gained a considerable following, including possibly as many as 30,000 children. He led his followers south towards the Mediterranean Sea, in the belief that the sea would part on their arrival, allowing him and his followers to march to Jerusalem, but this did not happen. Two merchants (Hugh the Iron and William of Posqueres) gave free passage on boats to as many of the children as were willing, but they were actually either taken to Tunisia and sold into slavery by the cruel merchants, or died in a shipwreck on San Pietro Island off Sardinia during a gale. Some may have failed to reach the sea, dying or giving up from starvation and exhaustion.
But from the article's introduction,
A study published in 1977 casts doubt on the existence of these events, and many historians came to believe that they were not (or not primarily) children but multiple bands of "wandering poor" in Germany and France, some of whom tried to reach the Holy Land and others who never intended to do so. Early versions of events, of which there are many variations told over the centuries, are largely apocryphal.

That's what this proposal reminded me of: Petition · Vereinte Nationen / United Nations: Call for and Join an International Coalition and Multi-National Army with 300.000 soldiers to Stop the IS / Stellen Sie eine Multi-Nationale Friedenskampftruppe mit 300.000 Soldaten zusammen, um die IS-Mörder-Miliz zu · Change.org -- unless they are skilled at military action, they will go the way of those legendary children. That's because the Islamic State's troops are experienced soldiers, soldiers who have won several battles and who have been difficult to defeat where they have lost.

The petition has English, German, and Italian versions of its contents. They have some interesting differences. To save space, I'll only give their titles with Google Translate translations:
English:
Call for and Join an International Coalition and Multi-National Army with 300.000 soldiers to Stop the IS

German:
Stellen Sie eine Multi-Nationale Friedenskampftruppe mit 300.000 Soldaten zusammen, um die IS-Mörder-Miliz zu stoppen
Ask to stop a multi-national peace fighting force with 300,000 soldiers together, the IS-Killer Militia

Italian:
Apprestatevi a creare una Truppa multinazionale combattente per la pace di 300.000 soldati per fermare le milizie assassine dell’ISIS
Apprestatevi to create a multinational troop fighter for peace of 300,000 soldiers to stop the murderous militias ISIS

The English version states that the IS leader is Hitlerian and genocidal, while the German and the Italian versions both state that the IS troops are so nasty and vicious that they must be deported to some isolated place. But both versions also state that some of them could be rehabilitated so that they can return to regular society again.

Petition Update · Die Globale Gefahr des IS / The global danger of the IS · Change.org noting New Corroboration of Billy Meier's Prophetic Information - YouTube (German with English subtitles)

Billy Meier is a UFO contactee, someone who claims that he has had close encounters of the friendly kind with extraterrestrial visitors. In that interview, he claims that various prophecies are getting fulfilled, prophecies revealed to him by his alleged ET friends as far back as 1958.

That gives me an amusing thought. Billy Meier could convince some of his alleged ET friends to serve as an air force for this Children's Crusade. They'd attach various weapons to their flying-saucer "beamships", weapons like guns and EMP devices and radio jammers, or whatever higher-tech ones that they might have.
