Senator Marco Rubio's attempt to claim the GOP establishment mantle and surge past Donald Trump and Ted Cruz to the Republican presidential nomination encountered a massive glitch in the early part of Saturday night’s debate. At first, Rubio’s strategy appeared to be to rehash his stump speech insinuating that President Obama is deliberately damaging America. Chris Christie, whose strategy for the debate was clearly to take out Rubio, repeatedly called attention to the senator’s canned speech and accused him of using memorized sound bits to cover up for his complete lack of executive experience. That strategy worked. The exchange became an instant classic in the history of political smackdowns, especially because, incredibly, a clearly rattled Rubio continued to use his canned speech, repeating his attack on Obama a total of five times over the first half of the debate.

I had to shake my head and wonder if they were running a clip. But no, it was REALLY that much of a repeat!. Was it 5 times? I remember 3, but it never seemed to go away.

Trump deservedly got booed. He is so much an empty shirt. All his comments so Sophomoric. Cruz sounded like Dick Cheney.

These guys do nothing for me. NOne of them seem presidential. Hot air and name calling, the whole lot of them. Kasich stayed away from it mostly. So there's that.

Much hostility and shrieking. I didn't hear anything I liked. And yeah, trying to tell us Obama is purposefully destroying America was stupid. I am sure Rubio's lack of real achievement is going to stay an issue. But Cruz is vulnerable here also. And so is Christie. They all like torture, more or less. Truly an unattractive spectacle. Maybe Carlie Fiorina got a good deal being banished from this slimepit of a debate. If anybody could said to have won, it was Kasich.

And it is an insane attack of Obama.

Obama wants to destroy the country by giving people health insurance.

Only a Republican could not find that insane.
