I'm trying to get an up to date list of creationist museums, travelling road shows and the like and I've found about 50 already. Many of the small ones don't have much of a web presence, so I suspect there are dozens I haven't managed to find. I'd be grateful for tips form folks who know of any in their local areas or other ones I might have missed. I'm trying to get a study leave from my university (U. of Lethbridge, Lethbridge Alberta) to study creationism and its myth-making, and the little museums are great examples of the transmission of myth. Hopefully I will get the leave and a grant so I can go visit a bunch of them.

My list is on my blog.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I see you have the one in Glendive, Montana. That's the one I know about. It is a large sophisticated museum for such a God-forsaken place.

I suspect there are a lot more, too. Little tiny ones in the basement of churches, and so forth. Many of the ones I've listed don't have much of a web presence. I found traces of others, but they seem to be defunct. I'm more interested in these little ones that the bigger ones in some respect. Its the David vs. Sciency Goliath syndrome.

Wife and I moved from Cincinnati recently, where we were well aware of the Creation Museum, Hebron KY you have listed. My wife drove by the place on her way to and from work, but we never visited. The admission fee was $24 if I recall correctly. The founder debated Bill Nye not long ago, at the museum, and that was a real hoot to watch.

Cheers Dr Jim

Hopefully I will be visiting Ham's museum next year along with a host of the smaller ones. I got a year long study leave from the University of Lethbridge (in S. Alberta) to look at creationist myth-making, biblical interpretations, museums and stuff, starting in July. I'm applying for some grants so I can afford to travel.

Never fear though, you can take that one off Texas and add this one:

Discovery Center
Abilene, TX

"Mission Statement:
The Discovery Center...is a creation museum/emporium that exists primarily to provide scientific and historic evidence for the truthfulness of God’s word, especially as it relates to the creation/evolution issue. . Our secondary mission is to expose the myth of evolution as anti-science and atheistic in nature. We accomplish our mission by conducting tours, providing resources, teaching seminars and classes and by sponsoring special events as well as producing a daily radio program, A Discovery Minute.

Located in Abilene, TX, The Discovery Center is the physical headquarters of Overflow Ministries, established in 1980 by Tommy and Carolyn Walden for the purpose of teaching the Gospel of The Lord Jesus Christ."
