For those of us who can't watch YouTube videos either because we're at work or because we think that just posting a link to a video in a thread without some kind of accompanying content is annoying and we don't want to support this type of behavior by clicking the link, who is David Brent and what is he having a news conference about?

David Brent is the character Ricky Gervais plays on The Office. I would say this belongs more in the Media & Culture Gallery.

First question is at 1:04:00

Someone who is as narcissistic as Trump, but also smarter and with more self control could have made the exchange with the jewish (kippa wearing) man asking about the alleged spike in anti-semitic hate crimes cause himself to look good and the guy to look bad.

He would have needed to ask, "why put the preface of people say I am questionable on my bigotry, but you don't think I am? that is kind of passive aggressive."
then he would address the actual question about the uptick in hate crimes with standard methods.

But instead he just steamrolled him and avoided the question. The reporter sucked and Trump was even worse.

and Trumps answer was described in a comment (with many enthuastic agreements) I saw as a "Watcha doin' Rabbi?" response, referring to this canard picture which I am putting for illustrative purposes:

Anyway, I am waiting for a reporter to say something like "This isn't about you getting offended, do your damn job for the country and grow up" to the rapturous applause of the whole press corps. Trump is either crazy like a fox or is a developmentally (emotion) stunted crybaby narcissist.
 
I really want to see if Trump will say "Lügenpresse", that would be mindblowing.

Bannon needs to not use that word around Trump, though it is surely in his mind all the time.

But he is but in Americanese. Calling the media liars distorting facts is what every fascist political party ever has done. All the points where he mirrors historical fascists is what's so alarming about the Trump presidency.
 
They should do an Office 2 with David Brent as the US president. That would be hillarious. Topical. And a major plot point would be him dodging questions about not being born in USA.

I know David Brent is now a rockstar. But on the other hand, that's a pretty clear trajectory to the US presidency now.

I would see it.

The unnaturally fluorescent mass of insecurities, apparently incapable of understanding basic logic, told press that the real story was how incredible it was and how much everyone loved it.

The thing, which blankly opened and closed a hole in its face even when not speaking as if in an autonomous feeding reflex, was able to respond to human speech but experts believe it is simply mimicry, devoid of meaning.

BBC reporter Julian Cook said: “It appeared to answer questions, but when you read back the answers they’re nothing but a torrent of unconnected words mixed with a keening refrain of pathetic self-praise.

“We believe this creature actually feeds on adulation and has adapted to seek out high concentrations of it, but instead is now exposed to unprecedented levels of toxic criticism causing it to lash out.”

He added: “Its neediness is almost to be pitied, if it wasn’t such a contemptible sack of orange shit.”
