Basic Beliefs
that people in the US are living in the matrx

Chris Hedges makes a fair argument IMO. We no longer have a functioning democracy and all that is left is one party of Corporatists (the Democrats) versus the other party of the Oligarphs (the Republicans). That wokeness is loved by and used as a weapon of the corporations because it can be used as a hammer to break down the will of the common man. And that our only solution at this point is for the common man to organize radically forming more substantial unions again. (similar to the truckers strike in Canada).

Why the corporations love wokeness 15:35-16:25
The difference between Oligarphy and Corporatism 4:30-7:00
The radical solution offered 33:20-34:15

When it comes to the real things that matter to the common man, BOTH parties are not going to help. The only choice is whether you like corporations better or Oligarphs better. I tend to prefer the Oligarphs myself because at least they are still people. Real people will tend to not want to make the US into a 3rd world country since they still live here. But in either case the public is actually living in disguised tyranny.

This is your fault, and rather than keeping everything working and balanced long enough to obviate it, you have handed it to one of the sides so that people will be owned by them.

The "will of the common man" you laude is the will to oppress people to do that which they do not consent to, be as they would not consent to be, and be locked into ownership by these masters you worship.

I do not consent to their boot.

Trump is posting images of pink triangles about his intentions.

If democracy is dead, this means war.

I take that means you don't agree with Hedges?

Where have you been? That has been the generalized set up for over a century. The difference between the Dems and GOP is the Dems throw the people a bone here and there. The GOP, the laugh as they piss on the people that are praising them. You have heard of the Guilded Age right? When the Rockefellers and Carnegies were running (owning) the nation? Where Hearst helped incite the US into a war?

It is like you know nothing about history... or what currently exists.
That wokeness...
Seriously? Are we already into "wokeness"? All the issues we need to deal with and the idea that we should respect fellow American citizens is what matters most and must go!

That trucker strike achieved nothing.

You adamantly support a guy that'd call the cops if you tried to gain access into Mar o Lago. That you can't see your own hypocrisy is awe-inspiring / annoying.

There is no difference between corporate oligarchy or cult of personality oligarchy. Too much power in too little hands.
Real people will tend to not want to make the US into a 3rd world country since they still live here. But in either case the public is actually living in disguised tyranny.

Your solution to corporate/wealth influence on politics in America is a dictatorship. You be watching too much dictator sponsored social media.

Parties/factions are inimical to democracy. FFS, the founders of our constitution knew this. Apparently Mr. Hedges thinks democracy never existed.

The issue is how to align the interests of the "elite" (whomever that is) as much as possible with ordinary citizens. Apparently enough voters thought putting Trump in charge would do that. Now, people like RVonse are coming to the conclusion that they were wrong, and however fucked they thought they would be under Harris, they are going to worse off under Trump over the next 4 years (or more).

For example, Mr. Trump believes that putting tariffs on cars and car parts will help the US auto industry, even though for most US based companies, 25% to 40% of their cars and parts are made in Mexico and Canada. Since it takes years to build up supply chains and industrial capacity these tariffs cannot possibly provide a positive benefit to US based companies over the next 2 to 3 years. At the earliest, the US might see some uptick in Trump's last year. And that ignores the effects of making steel and aluminum more expensive via tariffs.

That is but one example out of many of what Trump voters inflicted on themselves and others.

Hedges believes democracy existed prior to the Reagan and Clinton years before labor unions were dismantled. We once had a strong middle class that was hard won. But your point is well taken considering we really did not have a middle class during the early years of our nation. I would call that time period an oligarchy (George Washington billionaire of his time) very similar to present day.

To be fair it is much too early to know whether or not Trump will be successful or not. As you stated yourself, we won't know until the latter point of his term if his economic policy works to bring back supply chains.

Get fucked with your fascism.

No, or rather IDGAF about Hedges; if democracy is dead, it means war. What about this do you not understand?

It is not too early to see things getting worse.

And waiting to see whether he is successful in tanking the economy and then selling it for parts to people who want to OWN us seems like a bad idea.

Just saying. You might be right.

Umm...no. Smart people know that past behaviour predicts future behaviour and Trump IS ACTING LIKE HE ALWAYS HAS. You don't have to be a rocket scientist my dude to realise how much of a fuckup he is.

But you keep on worshipping Trump and Musk. I look forward to your finding out phase.
